I was Enjoying My recently aquired Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle ( or GCSR )and Ratslayer I was just messin' about around 188 trading post and I managed to take out everyone with one shot without turning anyone hostile , I took a gamble and tried it at bitter springs (despite being on the NCRs side ) but still i didnt gain infamy . I immediately started a new game as a sniper and already most of the Mojave have had their head removed and i haven't even discoverd Novac yet . :fallout:

You do know that to get the most out of the game, you need to talk to most of these folks at some point?

I have gone on many killing sprees myself. Usually after driving home in Rush Hour traffic. I just create a Save before I go Postal.......

I once made a habit of returning to the Thorn just to sneak attack crit everyone but Red Lucy with the Rat Slayer. No infamy, no alarm, no problem.

Nice gear, good for resale.

I like taking a lower level character into danger areas, the greatest have both been close combat builds though.
First one level 8 took out 6+ giant radscorpions three golden geckos, a pack of nightstalkers just with a sledge hammer and footwork.
Second level 5 took out the primm pass blind deathclaw, 3 powder charges and a few blows with a bladed guantlet.

Sniping is allways a favourite though, AP rounds and a silenced varmit can take down just about anything even with a low sneak skill.
Add a caravan shotgun with slugs for when deathclaws get close it's easy unless you miss.

I am working on finding a close-range defencive weapon at the minute . Can anyone help me out im just outside the broc flower cave (Getting the ratslayer muhhuhahaha!!) I think I might go to the abandoned Nuke test site Because theres a hunting shotgun There , Besides the A-M Rifle and the ratslayer the H- shotgun is the most fun I've had !

I'm tempted to do the same but I'm afraid it'll have psychological effect on the real world. :shakehead:

No the Hunting shotgun is the best fun permenant, ( JK ).

As for close range defensive, gun or close combat?

Gun a SMG is best for any unarmoured to medium DT enemy, a 10mm is the most common of the strongest and has the most mods.
The 9mm smg is very usefull against unarmoured foes, and has a higher mag ( especially modded ), but is rarer later game, heck even early game imo.
The 12.7 smg is by far the strongest, more akin to a powerfull assault rifle, and will take down highish DT foes and can be silenced, but is two handed.
The .22 is generally weaker, it holds the most ammo and goes through it fast, but the ammo itself is not one that you find in large ammounts most places.

Melee, depending on strength and skill a combat knife is allways a good choice.
You can find its special version just north of goodsprings in a grave but may have to face many cazadors unless you sneak, use a stealth boy or get lucky.
Lead pipe, a single hander that is strong as a good two handed weapon.
Two handers are best as they have reach, my favourites are a baseball bat, nail board and the sledgehammer, or you could just try and find a ripper or chainsaw.

Unarmed, spiked knuckles or a bladed guantlet are best, spiked knuckles were the weapon I used 90% of my build with.
Powerfist, disruption glove or the best a ballistic fist will be best later on, or go for a shock glove against robots.

Actually I've Never used (or liked ) unarmed weapons but recently i got some spiked knuckles and they're actually quite good and other variants are quite common so its not like i can't constantly repair them .

I was shocked as well tbh, on normal I was one hit killing most npc's with them with some skill.
Another thing is that the combat styles you gain from dialogue with some npc's, are really really fantastic, ranger take down, and the caesars legion one are by far tremendous perks that are almost vital for unarmed.
Unlike Oblivion I actually enjoyed using them, and switched to third person to do so.
The upgraded knuckles "Love and Hate" are just north east of the cazador area by Goodsprings, and almost due north of the Goodspring cemetary.
They're equiped by a strong Jackal leader, supported by more strong raiders, it'll be a tough challange early on if you try from the south.
But as a primary marksman it should be a lot easier than a pure close cobat character.
