I did the Silver Rush as part of Cass's quest and at the point where the proprietors instructed me to bring Cass, I brought her and set her up with the Gobi rifle in the corner near the entrance and told her to wait there while I went forward to complete the dialogue with Jean-Baptiste and Gloria. As soon as the fight started, I focused on killing Jean-Baptiste and Gloria with my super sledge while Cass softened up a few of the guards with the Gobi rifle. Then I just continued to mop the floor with the rest of the guards using the super sledge.

It was a relatively tough fight, I died a few times before completing it.

Same here but I used 3 with Cass and Rex as companions. Jean was in the hall with the bathroom so I led companions into side room before talking to Jean and siding with Cass.

This is what I do with lower level characters. Its a bit cheap but it works really well if you can't go in guns 'a blazin' without tuning into green goo:

1. Leave Cass by the door (if you brought her, doesn't matter *that* much) to cover your escape
2. Dialogue/Attack
3. When you've taken significant damage, make a break for Cass, have her follow, and leave.
4. Take out the crier, door guard, and any stragelers who follow you out
5. Heal up
6. Enter Silver Rush, attack until you've taken significant damage
7. Repeat as needed

I killed everyone easily on Very Hard/hardcoe with This Machine and Armor Piercing bullets. I mixed it up with a few grenades and a grenade launcher, but this was mostly for fun - it actually made combat more difficult.

. . . add to this my standard hard combat cocktail: Buffout, Ultrajet, Super stimpack, party time mentats, psycho, med-x, rebound, sugar bombs, moonshine . . .

Atomic Cocktail, MedX, Combat Armor

Light Machine Gun

My current guns pc went at them with that today, and leveled the place in a matter of 3 minutes. With very little loss of health. It was so easy I reloaded, and didn't use the combat aids. Was still quite easy though.

I sneak-crit all the guards with the Ratslayer, then arrange the bodies in odd patterns on Gloria's table. She doesn't seem to mind.

Also, carry the Plasma Caster to the bathroom and take it, or Jean will pick it up when the fighting starts.

A bunch of turbo is good to have, you can disarm and steal all their guns before they kill her. I gave Cass combat armour so she could take a few hits too, dunno if that'll be much use with the new EWs ? Probably go straight through :/

I just got a stealth boy and sneak attacked most of the guards , then brought out the hunting revolver and shot the rest. I wouldnt reccomend tryingit until you are at least level 15

I'm just not sure where the need for chems to accomplish this comes from, unless you are taking it on in your first "encounter" with the Silver Rush... Watching my wife play through it, she went to the Silver Rush, (pre-patch, but with the "requisite" quests), and they basically ignored her until "letting the Boss take care of business". She then snuck into the "forbidden" areas, robbed those donkeys blind, and left. All the while, Cass was her companion.

After returning, (again, with Cass), the guard outside attacked immediately, and got other donkeys to show up from inside. A few shots later, they were all looted. She went inside, (with Cass), killed every "Melon Farmer" left in there, without difficulty, and robbed the s$%t out of the place, including everything on the tables.

Did this "lock her out" of some quests? Perhaps, but they really are of no consequence (much like MOST of the side quests in this game- fall into the funnel, and you WILL go where the game dictates)... That being said, it's not really difficult to take care of those arrogant nozzles and still come up with a satisfactory ending, plus, you aren't really missing out on "better" or "more" loot. Just more "hoops" to jump through...

I did that but then reloaded because the Plasma Caster and many other weapons were gone. So I used the more explosive method.

You didn't mention what difficulty level you are playing at (is it hardcoe/very hard?) Also, you had a companion - I usually have my companions wait somewhere safe so they don't steal my glory! Most fights I load up on chems for, I could ultimately finish without them . . . but, what the heck? Why bother having 20 Jet and Psycho in your inventory if you aren't going to use them? Chems are just one more element to make the game fun . . . I use them as much as possible.

If you complete the Cassidy Caravan quest the peaceful way, by finding evidence against the Silver Rush and Crimson Caravan company, the people at the Silver Rush will turn hostile. I had completed the quest in that way and the next time I went to Freeside, I got attacked by the Silver Rush crier. The door guard attacked me as well, which brought all of the other guards outside in the open.

If you just want to do some killing, attack them inside the Silver Rush and then go outside.

Either way, as long as you're outside, it's pretty easy to massacre the staff and owners of the Silver Rush.
