so, here's the order in which things happened:

i completed everything the original elder had to offer, including fixing the ventilation system and becoming a member myself. then i went along my merry way and the NCR colonel told me to deal with the brotherhood. i then chose to inform hardin of the original elder's misconduct in order to get him fired. i got caught in the "they're both waiting forever" bug. some googling revealed the patch on the nexus, so i downloaded that. i enabled that, went and activated helios one to kill time, and then returned to the brotherhood bunker. to my delight, the old elder was finally stepping down and hardin took his place.

here's the bug: after all of that, hardin does not have an option to respond to the NCR. i had hoped to pit the factions against one another, but i don't get any related dialog options.

i'm wondering if there are any console commands out there that would gently reset the colonel's quest to find the brotherhood so i could re-initiate it with her and hopefully spur the dialog option with hardin into existence.

help, ladies and/or gentlemen?

questreset 00136166 doesn't work at all. if i reset that quest, then the colonel fails to recognize me.

any ideas?

a little more poking...

getstage shows that i'm on stage 5, but sqs shows that stage 5 is complete. that might be trouble.

the only thing i;ve been able to accomplish is setting stage 6 to complete renders me the NCR's victorious hero of the second battle of hoover dam (which doesn't actually happen, of course).

anyone know how to set a single stage to zero without resetting the whole thing?

Wait, doesn't installing Hardin suppose to prevent BOS and NCR to ally each other? As much as I know you can talk it out only with old elder. With Hardin you have to blow BOS up.

That's not a bug, its the design. Hardin WILL not ally with the NCR nor will he take part in the battle for hoover dam in any fashion.
