What? I want the Empire to conquer all of Nirn, so no.
We're invading Akavir in TES VI! :P
That was a joke. honestly, i think Akavir will invade Tamriel first, then vice versa in a later game. But let's leave it at that.

Depends - I don't know enough on how each of the factions work.. If the faction in favor of seceding is a ton of radicals who want nothing more than to terrorize their own citizens.. well.. that's a deal breaker, stay in the empire. But if they're reasonably awesome, then it'd be a toss up.

I'd be all for it, if they could do something better. The Empire is shell of what it once was.

This might be a possibility. I wonder if we will pick a side in the war, or if it will be a more underlying theme since the story will be mainly focused on Alduin?

The empire is done for no empoer or leader and plus the nords hate the empire and would gladly die to stay away from it

When I think of the factions conflicting with their role in the empire, I think of the phrases:
Rebels - "Every man for himself!"
Loyalists - "No every man, against the elves!

(I have a feeling that the new Altmer/Bosmer kingdom might start causing problems for the humans.)

Actually there is a leader, Colovian warlord Titus Mede takes the Imperial City by force and crowns himself Emperor.

I'd rather let Bethesda take matters of history and lore like this into their own hands, but if I did have to choose, I would have them secede. Down with Imperial Imperialism. I think it'd be nicer if all of the provinces (most/some of them are nations now, I guess) were completely independent but coexisted harmoniously in some sort of mutual understanding and agreement. This obviously wouldn't last forever, but political peace on Nirn would be wonderful, at least for some amount of time!

Gah! wheres the fun in peace!? From what I understand however, there are already some alliances being made and broken, so it looks like we will get to save the world for many years to come!

There's not enough information to decide. If the Empire is honorable I absolutely oppose Skyrim seceding.

Personally, I believe that with the Septim's all dead, the Empire's claim on other territories are forfeit (which is why most have already left). I think things would work out better if the human nations became seperate, yet held a strong alliance to each other....just in case.

Exactly what I thought. I'd say no for sure if I knew the Empire hasn't become more corrupt in their time without a Septim ruler, but we really have no idea how the new non-Septim Empire is. But if the races if man all split up and have no coalition, they're definitely going to be screwed when the Aldmeri Dominion/Black Marsh/Akaviri or whoever else finds them divided and weak and takes advantage of it. I like the mer races in particular, but I still don't want to see the races of men weak enough for every other more united power to trample over.

Secede. Become independent. It will be so much more epic in the next game when you have to band with all the individual regions to fight off whatever invading force that will most likely attack Tamriel.. I think we can all see that coming, can't we?
