If you go to the "Oblivion Mods" Section, you see one section devoted to everything mod related with some stickied threads. It's efficient for the community to share and discuss mods related to the game, but I think the official forums should have this organized in a way that will benefit both the player and the modder. We should have the sections divided up into sub-forums dedicated to the different aspects of the modding community. You can have one section devoted to current mods, another for mods in progress, each in their own subcategory depending on the nature of the mod. You can also have sections devoted to different peoples interests and skills as they pertain to modding. You can have a section dedicated to: 2D Concepts, 3D modeling (World Artists; which could just include people well practiced with the construction set) , Scripting, Animation, Music, Sound, Voice acting, and Writing (quests, books, dialogue).
I think this will be a good way to increase productivity and creativity within our modding community. Let's say you want to start working on that total conversion mod you've had bouncing around in your head, but alas you don't have all the skills or time necessary to accomplish the task, who does? Luckily, you can head on over to the wonderful Mods section, go directly to the group of people with the skills you need, share your ideas and see if any of them are interested in your project. Each section would not only be a way to find people to join your team, but they will also provide a way for people to talk about each subject; to educate, to share resources & tutorials, and to critic each other's projects or portfolios of work.
Mods have always been a big part of the Elder Scrolls (extending over to Fallout) experience as it pertains to the PC, and I think it's about time we let that part of the community reach it's full potential within the Official Forums.
Any further ideas or comments to such a suggestion? Do you think the mod sections are fine the way they are?
