What are the chances of Fallouts 1+2 being released on the PS3

If anyone out there either knows or has an opinion can they let me know?

About as likely that they will be released on the Xbox 360. Which is to say, we can only dream.

You could probably play them on a lot of PCs tho (if you have a PC) - not quite the system demands of modern day games. Good Old Games has them for cheap, patched and able to play on XP (and possibly even Vista.)

Sorry but they most likely won't be released on any console.

Simply not worth it as most console owners probably wouldn't have even heard of them.

WHY? I could play them on my bloody EeePC if I wanted to. I can't imagine anyone with the ability to even post here has a system that couldn't run them.

buy it for pc or download it for free off gametap

Unless its antique i'm fairly sure the pc you're using to go on this forum will be able to play it.
Also you can play old games on xp without patches you just have to right click the file and select preference and then click run on windows 95.

Buy each from gog.com for 6$. I heard a rumor that interplay retained the rights to the original fallout games.

Thank you all for your advice,I will get them when I get my laptop

The reason that I don't play games on this P.C. is that it is running very slow and has started to lock up even more than the game

Bethesda bought the IP, but Interplay remains the publisher of the original games, so they're in charge of any releases. Porting them to the consoles would probably be a big hassle so I think it's unlikely they'd do this.

FO1 and 2 were made 10 years ago. They'll run smoothly on any modern machine, even one slow by today's standards.

Yeah, even with Beth bringing the Fallout Universe back into the spotlight there's no way Interplay would finance the re-release of the originals. And as for a PS3 port, can you imagine those visuals stretched out on your widescreen tv? I put a PS2 game into my PS3 once to see if the backwards compatibility worked, it was truly hideous, you could sit there and count the pixels if you were so inclined, I dread to think what a game as old as Fallout 1/2 would like.

EDIT: as for playing Fallout on a modern PC, doable but tricky. Most PCs now would powerhouse the game making it unplayably fast or even not start up at all. VOGONs (very old games on new systems) is a great website with tools, apps and tutorials on how to get your vintage games to work on your high end rig. Just thought I'd throw that in in case anyone has problems.

You could install Linux onto your PS3 (yes its possible and legal) and run the games inside DOSBOX but its a relatively complicated thing to do

I have played both fallout 1 and 2 using the gog.com implementation on a very modern PC using Vista - 64. So far runs great. [edit - apparenlty GoG has done the dosbox work for you]

they would need to completely revamp both games or they would look awful
too much time and effort for virtually no return

much as I'd love it, it ain't happening

Yep, it runs fine on Vista once you remind to turn on the Windows 9x compatibility mode for the game executable. And it runs perfectly normally and certainly not too fast or something like this, it runs just fine. You'll have to look further in the past to find games whose speed was depending on the machine's speed. I think that even Dungeon Keeper would run smooth on a current machine.

Well, since almost everybody in the world of gaming has heard of Fallout 3, I think most of them can't help but wonder how the previous Fallout were, even if they didn't heard about 10 years ago. So like the old classics such as Mario or Sonic, I think it would be a prime target for oldies sold on PSN or Xbox LIVE. Well, except that a 640*480 in 256 colours game might not render that well on a brand new HD TV, especially one like Fallout, which, even ten years ago, was quite outdated technically.

Utter tripe. As a diehard Half-Life 1 fan and still a highly devoted fan of the Goldsrc engine, you have no idea how many Kleenex packs I went through upon seeing all these Half-Life 2 players saying they hadn't played HL1, or even worse, not even bothered to look into it.

It runs so smoothly on todays machines, the random encounters are broken (ie the game runs too fast for them to take effect).

But alas the modding community of No Mutents Allowed has fixed this!
