Cowboy perk

Post » Mon Nov 29, 2010 1:19 am

First of all, don't know if this is the right forum.

This perk does 25% extra damage to revolver types, melee and 'lever action weapons'. What are the lever action weapons? I looked at the Wiki but could only find a reference to the original game.

Obviously there's the lever action shotgun but unsure what else counts? I'm assuming they aren't talking about bolt action rifles.

Oh, on another point, is this perk worth getting for a guns character?

Thanks.

Definitely worth getting for a Guns (non-sniper specialist) build. Cowboy Repeater, Trail Carbine, and Brush Gun(!) all qualify. Cowboy + Hand Loader perk = lever-action pwnage.

Thank you both.

How stupid of me, why didn't I search for the cowboy perk rather than lever action weapons on the Wiki (blush).

Cowboy perk is great for guns-oriented players who prefer fast-paced head-on shoot-outs over patient stealth tactics. Cowboy guns have a fast firing rate, great DAM and DPS. The Trail Carbine can be scoped for sniping AND can be an effective close quarters weapon. The two downsides of cowboy guns compared to magazine-fed ones are the slow reloading speed and the fact that they can't be silenced.

Well, I've started my guns build and will go for the Cowboy perk, unsure what level though as I need 45's in melee and guns. Pushing Repair first few levels in order to get hand loader at lvl 6 as I find it so useful.

In my previous build I got the trail carbine early on (lvl 5/6 I think) and found it very useful. My S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats are 5/8/5/1/4/8/9. Apart from the crit chance I like a high Luck so I can get easy money gambling. Got Intense Training Luck at lvl 2 as I only had END 5 so limited to how many implants I can get. Education at lvl 4 as I need the skill points.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for the replies.

I think Cowboy is a level 8. Trail Carbine w/ scope and hand loaded ammo is just about all you'll need for the rest of the game. Very good weapon.

-Gunny out.
