While I do enjoy the 13th Warrior for what it is, it's portrayal of Vikings was pretty pathetic.

Just decided to overcome my own scepticism and clicked on the links. First thing that catched my eye was the still on the the utter right of "Game of Thrones" and I immediately thought something like: hmm, looks promising. xD

I've just watched the first episode (it's a TV-series) of Game of Thrones, but it's really good so far I think. A very mature medieval fantasy series. I've been doubtful before to fantasy series after watching Legend of the Seeker, but this series is really promising so far.

It feels like a mix of the Witcher + Skyrim. Politics, war, mysterious evil is coming. There's pretty much six as well, but it feels natural in the world it's in. Otherwise six in TV-shows usually is just there for... yeah... to attract more views. six in this shows feels more natural in a mature way. A way that makes sense in the world Game of Thrones takes place.

How an Arab could learn old Norse - the difference between the two languages can't be more abysmal - in about an hour or so while sitting with them at a fire was equally dubious. o.O

@ hlvr, I'll check the trailers. I wonder how you got it, normally I seem to be easily attracted to this kind of covers...
I just noticed the stills change every now and then. She's now on the utter left in another one. xD

There is a film called Wolf Hound that is a fairly recent release, and is similar to Valhalla Rising.

It's not over a few hours, it's over many nights listening to them talking over the fire, probably over a period of several weeks. Though still not likely it makes it a little more probable.

Valhalla Rising had some good stuff. There's also that 1958 movie The Vikings, which was sorta hit or miss.

Thres nothing hit or miss about Tony Curtis' Falcon ripping Kirk Douglas' eye out. The soundtrack however was terrible, at least the singing part.

In the book it is over a period of months/years... been like 20 years since I read Eaters of the Dead though. The movie has to condense all of the events... like all adaptations.
