Possible hints to Skyrim's plot in the book - Where Were You

Post » Fri Dec 17, 2010 10:23 pm

Check out this in game book about Dragon Breaks - When linear time is broken when major events occur, such as the Tribunal tapping inot Lorkhan's Heart, Warp in the West and the use of the Numidium by Tiber Septim. About a 3rd of the way down in the book "Where Were You When the Dragon Broke?" a Khajiti speaks about the Nords handing Alkosh/Akatosh/Alduin [censored] on a platter during one of these dragon breaks and then a second time again, which may explain Nord myths on Alduin being the destroyer of worlds and the creator of new ones. Perhaps this relates back to Ysmir Wulfarth and the time when Alduin ate the age away from all Nord's back to children....

Does anyone else know of any other clues like this?

Its just explaining the Warp in the West, which is basically just a way to "explain" the multiple endings of Daggerfall canonically.

And CHIM is just the in-universe way of explaining the dev console and the construction kit :P

Still a neat concept either way. There will probably be a dragon break in Skyrim (since the end will probably involve breaking the dragon in a more literal sense), but I just hope it doesn't entirely negate all the metaplot development they've done with the intermediary stuff. Morrowind being destroyed is potentially far more interesting than it magically snapping back together like one of those little skeleton toys strung through with elastic.

1E 1200 - 2208 — The Dragon Break
Scholar-priests of the Alessian Order, the Marukhati Selective, attempt to tamper with the identity of Akatosh, disrupting time itself. The actual events surrounding the Dragon Break and the millennium of missing history after it are disputed.

From the UESP Wiki. This is what the book "Where were you when the Dragon broke" refers to.

The Warp in the West, the Tribunal tapping into the Heart of Lorkhan, and the first activation of the Brass God, Numidium. All Dragon Breaks. so yeah, Dragon breaks were created after Daggerfall to explain continuity issues. A form or retconning in a way.

I'd love for Skyrim to have its own Dragon Break (as in time paradox of course, dragons breaking out of the throat of the world don't count ;P ).

I wouldn't be surprised to find out it's part of the plot, after all, Aedra aren't necessarily bound to one form, much less one mere mortal perspective. The appearance of Akatosh's phantom during the Oblivion Crisis likely changed part of his identity and broke the balance of forces that hold time and space together; hence, 'Akatosh' reappears to fix everything via a world transforming Dragon Break, obliterating everything and starting over. That is, until our Dragon Born stops him of course

Just a theory

I'd be kind of surprised if, in an entire game about Alduin and his effect on time, there was no allusion to a dragon-break at some point, even if one doesn't actually occur during the game.

It'd be nice if they gave us several endings using a dragon-break again, but then actually talked about the break after... the credits... or something... I dunno.

Dragonborn will become the chronosborn, fighting through dragon breaks to restore the true timeline. Great replay value :).

Based on the book it seems that Bethesda have tried to weeve more than one several Dragon Breaks throughout Tamriel history:

"Examples of Dragon Breaks are The Warp in the West, the moment the Tribunal tapped into the Heart of Lorkhan at Red Mountain, and the first activation of the Brass God, Numidium."

The most interesting part about the book is that the Khajit refers to the Nords in some conflict with Akatosh/Alkosh/Alduin not once, but twice. This links in nicely with the implied cyclic nature of Alduin - World Eater that we have heard about form interviews with Bethesda. Admittedly this relies on the "Big Walker" being Akatosh/alduin for this theory to work, which i belive is so due to the sentence structure implying that Big Wlaker and Alkosh are the same, plus Akatosh/Alduin is refered to as "just a real big cat" by the Khajit, one of which is saying the below sentence. Loose i know, but it might be something.

"We'll give you credit: you broke Alkosh something fierce, and that's not easy. Just don't think you solved what you accomplished by it, or can ever solve it. You did it again with Big Walker, not once, but twice!"

And yeah given Akatosh/Alkosh/Alduin's conection to time i dare say you might see some form of dragon break happening in Skyrim... Should we be expecting alternate endings???...

So, maybe we will actually break Alduin. I'd like to see that.

wow, this stuff gives me a headache... you know whats funny?

mortals are supposed to be unable to understand gods... but they sure are damn good at being JUST as confusing as gods!

also, the khajiit seem to think everything is one big conspiracy theory from what i just read, unless i misunderstood something... possible, im tired and havent eaten anything yet...
