I can see where this is going. I'll go get a mod. Be right back.

you guys should probably cool of on the console vs PC debate, they only have one conclusion and thats a locked thread. besides, I have played both and they each have advantages and disadvantages imo one is not "better" than the other.

Ooh. I thought you meant a mod, not like a ... forum mod at first.

I'm sorry for offending you. Lets go back to the discussion.

Yes, I'd still play Skyrim without mods!

Speaking of mods, how long do overhaul mods (like the graphics extenders, OOO, etc.) take to complete from start to finish? How many people typically work on them? I've always wondered that.

It depends. I know that the Unofficial Oblivion Patch took THREE years! And I bet the Lost Spires took like one year +.

How do those two types (content and patches) conflict with each other, then?

the forums is a place for discussion, its not a competition for who is right or wrong. so if you think there are winners and losers in the community you are sorely mistaken and taking this out of context. most of the users here are friendly even if it looks other wise when they come across something they disagree about.

The Unofficial Oblivion Patch is compatible with like 99% of mods. So, they don't really conflict. Rather, they work perfectly with each other. Patches are made to work with content...not conflict with them.

I'm expecting an Unofficial Skyrim Patch in three years.

I probably would still buy the game... I mean, vanilla Morrowind and Oblivion weren't THAT bad.

I'd be incredibly bitter about it though, even if the game turned out to be really great and well polished. I'd take an imperfect one with mods over a well polished one without any day.

Yeah...same. Mods are 1/4 of the fun I have in playing games like Oblivion.

plus mods are a way to apease people who wanted something that used to be in the game and was not in the vanilla, I won't go into the specific about what weapon I am talking about, but there were mods (or a mod, not sure how many) that had them.

First off, Bethesda isn't going to stop supporting the CK after they've committed to it, so making this topic is asking for some trouble.

For my part, I would likely still buy Skyrim even if there were no mods, but I would certainly feel disappointed. For the most part, vanilla Skyrim looks like it will be pretty good, but it wouldn't be as great a game without them.

Now, if I somehow knew that Skyrim would be just an upgraded version of Oblivion but isn't supporting mods, I wouldn't buy it at all. I used to play Oblivion on Xbox 360, but since I got a new computer 2 years ago I began playing PC and using mods. After experiencing the myriad ways mods improved the game, I couldn't bring myself to play it on Xbox and subsequently sold my Xbox 360 to game on PC solely. (IMHO) Whereas Morrowind can pretty much hold up on its own, Oblivion without mods is an empty and boring game, but mods cause it to surpass all other games because I really CAN do anything I want and be anything I want, which makes it a completely different game from the vanilla.

What do some of you do with games that don't have mods? Do you only play games with mods?

Starting out, I play Bethesda's games without mods, but after a while it's hard to pass up some of the fan-made content. It's not like I'm going to buy Skyrim and then put it on the shelf until there's a bunch of game changing mods.

Wow, I'm surprised by this polls results. Personally, I said yes, but I was expecting to be a minority, the way people on these forums talk about their precious mods. :P
