Skyrim in your top 5 games?

Post » Sun Dec 26, 2010 9:43 pm

Skyrim is likely going to be in my TOP 5 sharing the place with Morrowind and Oblivion.

1. Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters (PC)
2. UFO: Enemy Unknown / X-COM: UFO Defense (PC)
3. Chrono Trigger (SNES)
4. The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind & Oblivion (PC) (Skyrim is likely going to be here)
5. FreeSpace 2 (PC)

After those:
- Mass Effect 1 & 2 (PC)
- Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares (PC)
- Doom 2 (PC)
- Counter-Strike (PC)
Edit: - The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall (Yes, it's here after Doom and Counter-Strike)

Heh I forgot about Chrono Trigger. While it was a damn good game, it reminded me of another game called Shadowrun on the SNES which I edited to knock Ultima 8 off its rank.

My current list looks like this:
  • Fallout 3
  • Oblivion
  • BioShock
  • GTA: San Andreas
  • Bad Company 2

I'm hoping for Skyrim to be better than them all, but let's face it; we won't know until 11-11-11.

If it is as good as it's cracking up to be, it will take all five spaces in my top five, which looks like this right now

1.Oblivion
2.Morrowind
3. Fallout 3
4. Dragon Age:Origins
5.Assassins Creed 2

Setting plays a huge part for me when it comes to games. Morrowind is probably a better game than Oblivion overall, but I prefer Oblivion because of the setting. The lush green forests and traditional medieval-style fantasy appeal to me a lot.

Skyrim will be diverse, but i'm really not convinced the setting will appeal to me at all.

That's the exact reasoning why a lot of fans who liked Morrowind didn't like Oblivion as much, including me. That cliché fantasy setting is just that, cliché.

It all depends on the persons opinion though.

For me personally, I didn't get the whole "omg this is so alien" buzz about Morrowind. To me the Middle-Eastern / Egyptian influences in Morrowind were just as apparent as the Medieval European influences in Oblivion.

If I had to pick between a Middle-Eastern / Medieval European / Early-Medieval (or Viking-Age) Scandinavian theme for a game, i'd go with Medieval European every time... even though it's the most overdone of the three.

1. Metal Gear Solid 4
2. Uncharted 2
3. God of War III
4. TES IV: OBLIVION
5. Demon's Souls

That's just for ps3, but I reckon Skyrim will be able to squeeze in.

Ask me in November.

Top 5 would probably include some of the following, depending on the day:

Civ 4
Oblivion
Lemmings 2
Tie fighter
X-Com (either the original game or Apocalypse)
Silent hunter 3
Railroad tycoon 3
