BOS War with NCR

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:47 pm

I'm puzzled as to why Lyons would fear any consequences from the true BOS, since they couldn't even overcome the technologically inferior/numerically superior NCR, how could they possibly wage any sort of concerted effort all the way East to deal with the treacherous Lyons?

That is an interesting question. Maybe, because Lyon's felt that the Mid Western Brotherhood would come to deal with them, but then again they are sort of rogue in their way, so I'm clueless?

Simple. The Western Elders could simply revoke Lyon's Elder Status. They don't need to be anywhere close to him to do that.

The real question would be if the people under his command would stop listening to him. Most of them did, after all, follow him when he decided to try and save villages rather than technology. However, I could see Lyons voluntarily stepping down and placing someone else in charge if he lost his elder status...

If the Outcasts ever reestablished contact with the BOS, they would quickly find out that the Brotherhood is in no condition to discipline Lyons for his actions, and furthermore rather than getting their wish of being able to move in and remove Lyons, they would instead be reassigned to BOS units engaging the NCR.

I would speculate that the West coast Brotherhood probally finished the war a good while back in time and are currently busy trying to establish contact with the Midwestern brotherhood even though they have gone rogue. The might want their power armor back. As for Lyons, they might ignore him, or not, they would probally let him rot in the citadel. But if he managed to get into radio contact with them and let them know about liberty prime, then, they might just take over without his consent and reunite the outcasts and eastcoast brotherhood back into the original BOS. A few executions there and a few here and you have a perfect take over. Now, the probem is that where on earth will Lyons find a radio strong enough to contact the west coast, and what if the West coast is hostile towards him. So many possibilites, damn you lore gap. Why must we assume.

well, technically, Van Buren was the game that would have spoke of the NCR vs BoS struggle, and as it was never finished and is therefore, questionable with Beth's continuation of the series, it might be that Beth will announce their is no war between them. But, this is highly unlikely as I don't think Beth will ever re-involve the west coast in the future of the Fallout 'core' series. Maybe Obsidian will tell us what happened, it does have a few of the designers from Black Isles among them.

Well, given that Obsidian has many people from Black Isle, I think they will mention even more of the background they developed for Van Buren in that game.

If i undersrood right Wbos made lyons an elder after he reported about liberty prime.(from wiki)
Wiki also says that WBOS do respect lyons but because of his primary mission they would not sent reinforcement and will not contact him. It was hard for them to make such decision.
Also he did tried to contact them( can be revealed from dialogue) but they didnt

I suspect the Brotherhood lets NCR win on account of Tandi being kick-ass.

If the Western BoS were fighting the NCR, and if we go by its canon, and if it does. The Western BoS would be defeated since the NCR outnumbered them, and they will survive as the circle of steel. But that is unlikely since Elder Lyons stated that the Western BoS still exists in the West Coast.

Though, how accurate are his claims...as you remember, neither his dissident faction, nor the Outcasts actually have contact with the West Coast.

If thats the case and if the BoS in the west coast are somehow dissolved that would mean Lyon's BoS and the Outcasts are the remaining remnant's of it, with the Outcasts having the more traditional goal of the BoS, while Lyon's changed it for better or worse.

Then theres the Midwestern BoS too, if they are still around.

Unless we know whats going on with the Western BoS by Fallout 4 or New Vegas, their fate is still up in the air.

You all seem to forget young Maxson, descendant of the man who started the BOS. The kid resides in the citadel under Elder Lyons protection, and since he isn't old enough to have traveled their with Lyons that means?

That's right although the Western BOS and Eastern BOS don't talk but they are still on good terms. No wrath from the West will come and strip Lyons of power, he was never considered rogue.

Maxson was sent to the Citadel before the Western BoS cut contact with CW BoS.

I would guess by this point, when the "Outcasts" finally re-establish contact with the Brotherhood....all they are going to pick up are broadcasts from "NCR Freedom Radio"....as I'm assuming that the flag of the New California Republic now flies over all Western BOS assets.
