Where does the food come from?

Post » Tue Jan 25, 2011 8:46 am

What I was thinking about today while beeing at work (Working as a cook at the moment), where the hell are the kitchens in TES. Dunno how it had been in Arena or Daggerfall, tbh I never played them (Shame on me!), but in Morrowind and Oblivion there were no kitchens. There had been some taverns with tables and so on but no kitchens.
So I think it would just be awesome having them in Skyrim, so that you maybe can get some cooked meal in the daytime, and if you are going to attack someone in the tavern it might happen that the cooks will run out of the kitchen and attack you with their knifes.
And cause there is cooking in Skyrim you could also work in a tavern, starting with bringing some stuff from the market and then after a while cooking yourself. You can also get some special food only there.
The style of old kitchens is great as well, they had mine waggons on rails in there so that they got the coal from the stock to the ovens.

So what do you guys think, wouldn't it be cool having kitchens and cooks in Skyrims taverns?

There's no bathrooms in Tamriel either. Yet I wouldn't want them in anyways. I don't think we'd need actual kitchens, unless Beth has the time for it, then go ahead and implement them in, otherwise no, focus on other things.

It would be nice to see working kitchens at the inns, in an ideal world loads of features like this would be in the game, if they had the time to do it, it would be fun.

People will be cooking. So kitchens are a possibility. Riften has a fishery where they raise fish and smoke them.

I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing some indication of kitchens, as the others said. I'll be looking forward to it, too - you can't help but raise an eyebrow when the most expensive eatery in town seems to just get all of its meals out of a wooden crate in the middle of the basemant.

It'd be very great and cool and all to have kitchens, but there are more important things.

Not a necessity in my opinion. I could care less if they decided to implement this. Yes, it would look good, but why have them working on something that could later be added as a mod rather than something of more importance?

All or nothing says I. If we've got to have a place for food to come from, we need a place for it to go as well. Either we get kitchens and bathrooms, or neither one. :stare:

We already know there's cooking, and you have to be at a particular place to do any sort of crafting work, so it stands to reason that yes, there will be kitchens in taverns. Hopefully they'll have outhouses and such too, just to make the world more believable. Let's just hope there's no pooping minigame.

I don't understand why folks want bathrooms in the first place. Its well established that bathrooms of ANY kind didn't exist until the late 1700's/early 1800's in real life. Most people just went in public, on the stairs, in a bucket, or out in the weather. Bathrooms would most likely not exist in TES, except for maybe during the peak of the Empire, as they share great similarities to the Roman Empire, which did have lavatories and bath houses.

[Joke] Of course! Where else would all the women of Skyrim be? [/Joke]

In all seriousness, since they now have a cooking skill and the ability to cook, I think it would be very proper to have kitchens. Wherelse would you cook?
