Gambling with low luck of 3. Advice wanted

Post » Sat Jun 05, 2010 9:06 pm

My character's luck is pretty low, just 3. Playing blackjack now, and I am getting clobbered. I do know how to play so I am wondering if my low luck is making it futile for me to gamble.

Also, are there any ways to temporarily boost my gambling skill or luck level? Haven't seen any magazines that improve this. Note that i have already gotten a luck boost by dr. Usanagi at the new vegas medical clinic (it was just 2 before). Thanks.

There's Naughty Nightwear sold at Mick n Ralphs (special stock). But it still won't help much.

Are there magazines that provide temp luck or gambling skill boosts, or any other means of improving?

You can use the intense training perk to boost your luck and if your friendly towards the Legion, get the key to they're safehouse which contains the Lucky Shades.

No magazines. The naughty nightwear was mentioned but I believe that's it. No other luck items or drugs that I'm aware of.

As mentioned the only way to increase your luck is the Naughty Nightware from Mick & Ralphs and the Lucky Shades from the Legion safehouse.

Only play Black Jack. All my characters (but one) has luck 3 or less, and I still clean out all the places.

Use http://www.blackjackinfo.com/bjbse.php as a guide. Always follow the play chart. Start off with max chips you can convert, and always bet max. Don't think you can take this guide to any real casino... even memorized. The house has the advantage if the dealer wins push (don't in game do in most casinos), and if more then six decks are in use it also tosses the adantage towards the house.

Don't touch slots... I lose on them more then win with my luck 10 guy.

Never really got the hang of Roulette, but odds are you could find a guide for it also.

Low luck is close to real life. Stick to games where you have an edge, and you will come out ahead. It will be slower, but it works just fine.

Luck does affect what cards you and the house get, but gambling isn't really a good way to make money if thats what ur tryna do. If the Penthouse Suits are what ur tryna get, either use the two pieces of apparel that boost Luck.

BTW, an easy way to get money:

1). Kill the Gun Runner guards for their armor and weapons, sell them for an easy, respawnable penny.
Optional: If yhu have the Jurry Rigger perk, you can easily triple your money on almost everything you sell

So you're saying getting 5k total from 3 guards every 3 days, is better than cleaning all casinos for 100k+ caps?

You dont get 100k+ at all... Not even close. And the casino is a one time thing.

From all the casinos combined you can certainly get 100,000, do a little blackjack then some slots. And some people hate the idea of camping. A little blackjack some slots and its not hard to walk away with 20,000 from each. Slots have the advantage of being able to shatter the ban limit.

Don't touch slots... I lose on them more then win with my luck 10 guy.

Odd I typically win more then I lose with the slots, it usually involves a much higher up front investment.

Without a luck of 6+, gambling is gonna be very tough. Not impossible, but you will be reloading a bunch of saves. It's not really worth the effort unless you have a high luck. With a high luck you can be in and out in maybe 10 minutes, anything more than that is just a waste of time.

You won't win. If you do, it's once out of ten games. I think most people in real life who go to Vegas have a luck of 1-3.

Yeah, unless you have blackjack skills you won't get anywhere. I'd advise not bothering.

You need luck of 7.

your 3 luck plus:

+1 Luck - Intense Training
+1 Luck - medical center implant
+1 Luck - lucky Glasses from ceaser's legion
+1 luck - sixy sleepwear from jack and mick

Makes 7. I have 3 luck too, this is my plan.

Do Pred's plan, if possible, and then just save scum the slots. It only takes a minute, but it's why I always make sure to have a decent luck. I played Dead Money with 10 luck. Man, did that pay off.

I had no problem getting 10k chips through blackjack in Sierra Madre with 7 luck in 30 mins.

At best he can get 6, since he already has the implant.

My advice; don't gamble. Since luck influences which cards you get and which cards the House gets you will probably lose a lot more than you win.
Leave the gambling for a higher luck character (or a less abysmal Luck character).
