DLC or Expansion?

Post » Thu Jul 08, 2010 2:39 am

With the possibility of mods for consoles they will have to do better than horse armor, but I guess that kind of thing wont happen again anyway. Stil - Their content should really be different and near impossible to do in a mod. Else - why would you even bother downloading it?

Expansions are always going to be better than dlc and I am persoally hoping that an expansion will be released for Skyrim that visits the land of Atmora (which I beleive is orth of Skyrim across the sea) which is where the Nords originally came from before arriving in Tamriel, that I think would be really interesting. In regards to oblivion Shivering Isles was fantastic and Knight of the Nine was good but the rest of the dlc was pretty lame. There is nothing wrong with including new weapons or such, but it should be woven into a whole expansion rather than as a small insignificant download which is priced very badly in proportion to what you get from an expansion.

My wish is-
Expansions to:
1) Atmora
2) ....and a visit to the realm of Azura or Hermaeus Mora (I dont expect both)

Still I think we will be fobed of with Horse Armour and Spears

I prefer DLC because I have a PS3 and you can't play expansions until they are all put into the GOTY or expanded versions, which means I'd have to buy the original game again just for the expansions. DLC is far more accessible.

I do however hope the DLC's are longer and more worth the money I pay for them.

The money is however only in DLC if we are stupid enough to buy it and encourage them to make it, we should start a petition whereby all fans refuses to buy regular DLC

I know it's a hell of a long shot

I even liked Horse Armor, as I use horses frequently and they look badass with armor.

You must be the first person EVER to have said that

I believe starting a petition is against frum rules... and considering that the amount of users on this forum is less than %10 of the total amount of people who play these games, I'd say that the petition wouldn't be as meaningful as you'd like it to be.

I'd say that the people that read these forums and that play these games is probably less than 1% nevermind 10% and I am fully aware that it would make no difference still can't hurt to try still we are only the little people what we want isn't important money always has the louder voice. Unfortunatly I don't have enough money... Not yet anyway I am still working on world domination

Expansions are where it's at. In my experience, an expansion is so much more rewarding in almost every way. Better story, longer, many more new things and the price is decent compared to what you get.

If they take Point Lookout as the model for dlc size, then I'll be quite happy. Wouldn't even mind something along the lines of Unearthing Mehrunes' Razor, but no smaller.

You know, if horse armour had a few weapons, a shield or two, and a couple of outfits, bundled with it, they might have avoided being a laughing stock. Good job SI showed they hadn't lost their touch.

DLC's are a bad trend that needs to go away. I'm not gonna buy any DLC but I'llbuy every expansion they put out

well voting feature now finally works for me.
But I do not want DLC, none at all. I want 2 solid expansion like Morrowind had which add lots of new content. DLC is generally a ripoff. If you pay 50 bucks for a game and 10 bucks for a DLC then theoretically a DLC should be equivalent of 1/5 of the game's content. But this is never the case, not even close. Hence, DLCs rip us off and are basically a cheap money grab.
No DLCs, just 1 or 2 well made expansions.

More horse armour!

[/sarcasm]

But yeah, all DLC's have been a bad case of money grabbing by Bethesda, as far as Oblivion goes, imo. Not all to the standard of Horse Armour, but I don't see why I should pay for a house mod I could have created myself in 20 minutes.

But anyway, I'd rather have one or two high quality expansions with tonnes to do than some cheap DLC's. I was a fan of MOrrowind's DLC's, however. It really showed that the devs actually cared about the game.

Depends how big the expansions... Uh.. Expanse is.. And depends on the story/ambience of the DLCs. I personally like both and would like 2 bigguns and 3 DLCs.

Exactly and the Shivering Isles was about 3x the cost of a DLC but it was a third of the original game in terms of landmass alone, not to mention it was packed with creatures, characters and quests almost all of which were unique. It was amazing value.
I would also hope that people would just have some patience and wait for the GOTY edition rather than buy the DLCS and support this annoying new business practice.

They may do a middle ground between the both. Small but exploration based.
