Basically after going to the Fort and finally bothering to kill everyone there including Caesar even though i'd never spoke to him I collected the chip and then decided I'll return to the strip and see if there are any NCR missions to do at the embassy, turns out there weren't but after I spoke to the ambassador this cheeky so and so MP guy comes up and tells me "no one [censored]s with the NCR!" even though i'd done nothing wrong and then everyone attacks me because he attacked me.

So obviously I felt this was undeserved and then reloaded the auto save, quickly went outside and travelled to the strip to try and kill him without any of his backup.

At this point though i'm outside the lucky 38 and this guy comes up to me and states "what do you want" I then speak to him and there is no options, fine by me.

But he just seems to sit there now and does nothing, so yeah, just a quick question or two.

● How do I get rid of him without losing NCR infamy?

While Idolized by the NCR, I also had an MP come up to me after leaving the Embassy and say something similar. However, he nor anyone else attacked. I think this was after I did the House Always Wins II. It may have been a not to subtle hint to stop helping House. The other fellow may be Inculta or Alerio (if you killed Inculta). Is he wearing a suit and hat? Alerio ran up to me after I had completed House IV, thus Treading on the Bear and PO'ing Caesar. He says something, I activate him, but there are no options except "goodbye". May be a bug. In any case I blew his head off and his pieces lay in front of the Lucky 38. You'd think someone would clean it up. There was no Strip Infamy gained, and no one cared.

I had something similar happened to me. I had Lily as companion. After I got out of Crooker's office an MP ran up to me and said "what the hell is a mutant doing on the strip". Didn't turn hostile though.

I had this happen to me recently as well, and it appears to be either a scripting or dialogue error (not sure which) as it can also occur while working for the NCR, as happened to me.

It would appear that he is supposed to accost you if you are working counter to the NCR's interests, however the point in the MQ at which he does so is before Don't Tread on the Bear or Beware the Wrath of Caesar are failed, which is when you are 'officially' opposing those factions. Since he does it even when you are working for the NCR, that leads me to believe there is a faulty condition check that sets him off no matter who you are working for, as it checks only the point in the MQ you are at and not who you are siding with, which should also be checked against as he should not be going off on those working on the NCR's behalf. And even then it's checking against the wrong point in the MQ, as he accosts you before the point at which you have alienated the NCR.
