OH I like this thread. Well, I'll tell you about my current character, if you care to read it. Pardon me if this seems rushed, but I'm going to try to keep it short and simple.
I named her Carolina Red. Usually I make up my own names but I wanted to pay homage to Fallout3 and I always felt the name was good for a cowgirl varmint Outlaw.
Anyway in FO: NV she's a red headed ex-raider who once had some success in New Reno as a boxer before becoming a full time courier. If you're wondering she was a foxy boxer lol, but became so good at punching [censored]es that she took off her last opponent's head...which infuriated her boss. heh. She was basically a slave while working in New Reno, but her boss let her go free due to being at least a LITTLE intimidated by his craziest boxer's rapidly increasing martial skill. So she free, and became a courier...
Now, waking up in Goodsprings had jostled her thoughts, but her memories remained intact. She has an INT of 5, so she's not a genius. The good folk of Goodsprings treated her well, and she had made friends with Sunny Smiles. Good friends. Such good friends that Caroline was inspired to take the Charez la Femme perk. heh.
However, on one fateful Gecko hunt, Sunny was killed. By GECKOS. This filled Caroline with bitterness, but she did not grieve. There was no sadness. Just a cold feeling of something precious that had been lost(a "Good" morality playthrough, perhaps? Since her death disallows defending the Caravaner and Goodsprings from the Gangers ) ;p
Living out of Victor's unused shack, Caroline explored Goodsrings' surrounding landscape. She encountered Powder Gangers during these escursions, and they shared with her a few tricks about dynamite. Eventually she found work with them. She found them crude and crass, but admired their ability to use what little tools they where given to break the chains that held them captive. It seemed to her that this was not so different from her own experienced under forced employment in Reno.
So at this point I had an Unarmed character who is learning Explosives due to the close proximity of the Powder Gangers to her home. On a first playthrough especially I will let experiences influence my perks and skill choices, as well as who I allign with.
Now, over time the Gangers trusted Caroline more, and in the end she was present when the NCR came to impose their will upon their ex-captives, and she helped fight them off with the trademark dynamite'n'run tactics the Gangers where know known for.
Rangers tracked her down days later. Threatened her. She fled to spare Goodsprings any trouble, and trusted that the Powder Gang would survive future attacks after she shared with them her newfound studies on land mines.
The new goal was to learn more about explosive power, and to be ready when the Rangers came for her head in three days....
Her journy led her to Legion activities, and yes...they fascinated her. Speaking with elegant words she did not know yet understood regardless, commanding beasts which where rendered as loyal as any soldier, and with commanders dressed like what she would imagine Gods to dress like.
She acted as Legion Grenadier. Her uniform consisting of Blastermaster armor, Recruit helmet and her most favored weapon; a custom made grenade rifle. She was the Terror of Forelorn Hope, though those NCR victims had no idea she was among them, as Caroline has a gift for playing the role of the hard Ranger who's life she ended. Posing as "Caroline Delampa", a Tobacco chewing Ranger(currently have 26 coyote tobacco chews in my inventory!).
I really get a T-1000 vice when I'm in Ranger mode. I get little chills when I swagger into a new Ranger camp and they greet me with open arms. OOOH you poor fools. C4 is my weapon of choice for these encounters.
Sadly, Carolina Red is not very perceptive, and so it came as a surprise to her when she discovered slave trading at a Legion encampment. This has caused mixed feelings for her, and she has thought long on it during her trek to Freeside...
A trek which was interrupted at Boulder City. Assisting the Great Khans to escape yet more NCR oppression, Carolina felt a strong connection to this lot. Seh donned their gang clothing and walked with them...to the 188.
And there NCR opened fire upon her....and the Great Khans....they acted!! They slaughtered the NCR troops and also killed those who assisted them. During the chaos, Carolina was confronted by Veronica, the sole survivor of the 188 massacre. Veronica quickly joined her and the Khans, and the 6 companions continued on to Red Rock Vally....
