DLC for post-ending play

Post » Sun Jul 18, 2010 1:41 am

Okay the thing that made me insanely pis*ed at FO3 was after I beat the game, I couldn't use all the gear I picked up during the final mission, and the fact that I could not longer play was a load of bull.

Now the converse is I was extremely happy when Broken Steel was released.

And when I beat New Vegas, I was about to break my controler when I found out that Bethesda screwed me again with the "no playing after ending" bullsh*t. And then I find out there excuse is that they wanted a definite ending and so much "hard work" went into creating the end game slides. -WHO GIVES A [censored] ABOUT END GAME SLIDES?!?!

Seriously Bethesda, PLEASE release DLC so that I can play after I have beaten the game, because I for one will not be buying any FNV DLC until it includes a fix to the game ending.

Anyone else agree or disagree?

it was said before the game released that there would be a definite ending, and that the decisions you make in the game were so radically changing to the game world that continuing to play afterwards in the mojave would not make sense. im pretty sure josh sawyer said in this in an interview somwhere but i could be wrong on who said it.

point is, it was said it would end.

I care about the ending slides. I literally just finished the game, and the ending was how it should have been. Definite, and it tells you what happened because of your actions.

This was known for months, and welcomed by many. (especially series fans).

Nothing stops anyone from playing again and taking a different path. FO:NV does warn the player that the end is near; and anyone is free to avoid the last leg until they've exhausted their interest in the rest of it.

It's been said time and time and time again, they will NOT be releasing a DLC that will let you play after the end, give it up already. Enjoy the game for what it is.

... and I would not be buying it if they did (for the myriad of reasons that entails).

Most games have an end. How, exactly, would you have had the developers deal with the aftermath of your decisions during the main quest, if you continued to play after you'd finished it? It's either have an interesting story where you can take sides and make decisions that will impact on the world but you don't get to play in that world, or be cast in the role of 'hero' and have only one path to resolution of the main quest and continue to play in an unchanged world. I care about the decisions I make in game, and if that means the game has a definite end, that's a fair trade-off in my book.

Or to put it another way, I went with the NCR, you went with the Legion, the main quest ends with wildly different results. How can a DLC set after that ending possibly resolve the different games we played to the satisfaction of both of us? It can't, end of.

I don't see how you can say that it's a bad idea to at least have an OPTION to continue after the end for people who want to play after the main quest is out of the way. No need for fancy changes in the game world, just for fun and screwing around.
