companions auto heal?

Post » Thu Aug 12, 2010 6:45 am

Hello everone!

Is it meant to be that companions always regain full health without any stimpacks after combat. I noticed that on various occasions, with my companion being near death and seconds after the combat was over, back to full health again. Bug?

I'd rather have it the F2 way when your sidekicks reminded you of their health with voiced comments.

Also, I'd like to check the stats of the companions - can someone tell me how to find them in the G.E.C.K.?

cheers,

Yes it works like this and its not bug. They also can not die, just to be knocked out. Unless you play hardcoe. then they actually die.

Don't know for GECK but you can do it in game via console command "getav "

For example to get intelligence first enter console with NPC on screen, leftclick him to select then type:
getav intelligence

Some other commands:
getav xp
getav health
getav karma
getav actionpoints
getav critchance
getav radresist
getav damageresist
getav fireresist
getav poisonresist
getav guns
getav energy
getav explosives
getav meleeweapons
getav unarmed

I noticed this with Boone, but now I'm with Veronica and she actually has a Stimpak count (not in her inventory, it's when you scroll over "Use Stimpak" on her companion wheel) she also seems to take a little longer to heal herself.

The stimpack count is the number of stimpacks in your inventory. You can use them on your companions (presumably in battle, which is the only time they'd really need them).

Not to steal the topic but on a similar line, I have Boone in my party and we picked up some radiation poisoning, do they suffer from that and if so how do you cure it, I haven't been able to find that option anywhere.

Thanks

I'd rather have it that they stick with auto-heal when battle is over.
Why?
ED-E.
That's why.
You wanna know how it is to constantly waste all stimpacks on a companion?
Get ED-E.
Worthless piece of [censored] junk bot.
And I had CHA 8!!!
Imagine his health with CHA 1. :ahhh:
(Charisma affects Companion Nerve. Companion Nerve affects companion health and damage, the lower your charisma is the lower their health will be.)

This is one of those things I'd prefer to be a toggle option, if anything. I wouldn't use it myself. Sure, it would add to the difficulty somewhat, but mostly it would just be annoying to have to micromanage my companions' health. As long as they're not getting back up at full health in the middle of combat, I'm happy.

I don't know, I tried to take Veronica to Nellis and she did not fair well and I needed to Sleep to get her healed. Also, after a battle she was injured and her health did not regain. She was limping after a couple of tussles with some Deathclaws that I had to bail her out of. However in most battles, she does not seem to have any injuries. I have also seen Boone get injured and need a Stimpack after a battle, but that was only twice.

I think it is more that the companions do not seem to take much damage from most battles, rather than them getting insta healed.
