Don't remember the geck-name offhand but I think it's the same one used on the Bright Brotherhood robe. The dress and the male hoodie both use it, but it wraps differently for each outfit. I also defined a different texture on the male arms and the female's legs. Some clothing meshes, while still mainly the one-piece body suit, do have minor other areas you can define.
Yeah, I've noticed that. I don't have the patience for all that work tho...I tried once ages ago and it was...a lot of work. Especially if you start trying to make your own textures or something.
I wrapped a 50's clothing in a Sunset Sars. billboard texture once...it made Boone look like he was dressed for a wild Florida vacation. Haha, hilarious.
I think one problem is the very wide, black edges. It cuts the edge too cleanly or something, like thick crayon, perhaps, making it look not quite natural.
I don't really have any patience either, except on Oblivion.
The pc's and roles that formed were of PS: Torment characters gated into Tamrial after PS: T's end so they needed something special.
Yes the black edge is a typical model painters way to define areas, I use it commonly.
It breaks up blocks of colours and provides deeper shading, but needs to used finely.
Otherwise with it you lose the shape and create a broken piece effect to areas.
You notice on the outfits, especially if you take the merc troublemaker one it also uses it.
However fine lines to shade edges and groves.
The outfit throws in bold fleshy colours, washed dark tones as a base and and small metal details which suits its use.
Maybe if the band was a light faded green, some flower motiff or pastel it could look better.
