All this talk of buying mods or being paid for modding... my gut reactionis "awwwh, hell nawh!"
Think about it both ways... of course you will grudgingly accept money for your mods (though it pains you) but would you ever part with your sweet, sweet currency for a mod by someone else? Personally for me (as a downloader of HUNDREDS of mods) - very rarely. Only the best would get my money- for me, I could imagine shelling out for deadly reflex, the FCOM collection, Curse of Hicrine and probably a few more... but not many. Mods that I have loved and used constantly would never have made my load order (better cities, unnoficial patches, clothing/armor mods, realism mods) and budding modders would be cut out of the picture. What happens then is no one is motivated to learn to be better- sure the amazingly talented would get the money that they ultimatly deserve, but Im guessing (if everyone is as tight as me) that it would also kill off the modding community.
There's that, and the whole "spirit of christmas" thing... you know... its all about the giving and the sharing and the brotherly love, right? Haha, you have to admit there is something great about leaving real life industry behind for website where people are giving away/showing off things with one hand and downloading other peoples stuff with the other... sometimes because they see it and they want it, other times just to say "well done" other times out of curiosity/ because they can... theres something awesome about that, right? .. What, you'd rather have the money? ok....
