ED-E question...

Post » Sun Sep 26, 2010 1:50 pm

I know that you can get ED-E upgraded by the BoS, and by the FotA. Is it one or the other, or can you get both done? By the by, I play on the 360.

I upgraded Eddy at FotA and then went to Lorenzo at BOS and I could not get a dialogue option to upgrade Eddy's armor.

Only one. You must choose.

I find it odd, though, that it was the Followers who upgraded ED-E's weapons and the BoS who upgraded armor. Given the character of both groups, shouldn't it have been exactly the other way round?

Go for the weapon upgrade; they clean him up too. I agree...it seems like it should have been the BOS with the laser upgrade.

I wondered about that too. Then it made sense that the BoS wouldn't upgrade the weapons. They don't want anyone else having EW. No skin off their butts if you have ED-E with his popgun of a laser. They improve his durability and you are happy as are they. The FoA have no problem with defending themselves, or others defending themselves. Probably easier for them to upgrade his weapon than rebuild his chasis. Who knows, maybe all they had to do was clean up the gun, put in a new crystal, nothing major. I lean toward this as they do give ED-E a nice detailing. Does an uparmored ED-E move slower? If not, then the BoS had to improve his propulsion too. Frankly, I think the BoS would just take him from you.

I always give him to the BoS, but then he's also often my introduction to them if I have him along. Yeah, I could just go straight to Hidden Valley to meet them, but if I have ED-E along I prefer to play it according to the quest, since my character does not know the BoS exists prior to them contacting him through ED-E and it's kind of cool getting their greeting from out of nowhere.

I'm stuck on this - I repaired ED-E myself but my quest says that I should go to the Gibson Junk Yard. The old lady doesn't say anything about repairs and when I go to the Followers all they say is how junky ED-E looks. How can I get the upgrade or am I stuck in a bug.

Unrelated. The quest takes you there because that's where ED-E came from. You should have had a voice log playback once you ended conversation with Gibson...?

The upgrade comes later.

The quest is buggy. If you go to Gibson without ED-E in tow you won't get the playback.

I didn't get the BOS, or FoTA message until recently, level 20 and I was wandering along the Colorado trying to get to the Legion camp to get Rex a new brain. Then I realized, I need to go to the dam to get there but then I'd have to meet Benny and continue on the MQ.

Yes, I am level 20 and have not met Benny yet.
