running khajiits

So khajiits are supposed to be faster than the other races, right? well maybe in skyrim, they will be....permanently? since athletics isnt a skill anymore? what do you guys think?

Wasn't athletics just folded into something else?

But I agree that Khajiit should have a permanent boost in speed.

Who knows. It really depends on Khajiit lunar morphology. Maybe a Cathay-raht or Alfiq would be superior in speed, but these have never been playable in TES.

But your question does raise a question I haven't seen addressed; Racial bonuses. Are they still in?

I strongly support this.

Using attributes in Oblivion, a burly Orc could run as fast as a nimble Khajiit if you leveled up his Speed. Really?

I would say so. Without those it would just be ridiculous.

Yes, there was a story I remember that said while choosing a race is the only thing you do, each race has distinct powers and abilities. Idk if that means physical bonuses, or powers like summon ancestral ghost, but races do have bonuses.

Athletics will probably be tied to stamina and racial bonuses.

there should be some kind of khajiit exclusive perk to make them run on all fours.

Also, IIRC the Dunmer were the fastest race in Tamriel.

Good to know, thanks!

And for bonuses, of course I meant "base attribute" or whatever that may mean now in Skyrim.

Absolutely not. that would grind against http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Khajiit, like the Titanic against an iceberg. :meh:

thats ridiculous....they are built like humans, not like cats. Just because they are cat like doesnt mean their limbs are all the same length and that they are meant for running on all fours. They couldn't do so anymore than you or i could

I may be wrong, but I thought it was the argonians that had the highest athletics skill racial bonus in Oblivion. Khajiit had the highest acrobatics racial bonus, I think.
Cats may be good sprinters, but AFAIK, they wouldn't make good marathon runners. Plus, running isn't the only aspect of athletics. There's also swimming. Swimming for long periods of time would normally take a good amount of endurance. And don't most house cats avoid water like it's cursed?

Can we talk about other racial bonuses in this thread too? Like Night eye? Because I think that Night eye should work just like a real life cat's eyes, in that the iris opens to let more light in, a realistic adjustment depending on lighting instead of a magic spell. That's how it should work as a racial bonus. I'm not advocating removing Night eye as a spell just to be clear. I think a lot of racial bonuses that were magic spells in Oblivion was the wrong way to handle a lot of them is all. Anything that could be explained by the creature's biology should be that way imo. Obviously though, the magic spell versions should exist too.

You actually want your character to have enlarged irises?

I think that's asking a bit much. ;)
