Since Buying Houses Are Confirmed & Viewing Objects In 3

Post » Mon Oct 04, 2010 4:46 pm

Since we know we can purchase houses to live in, I'm hoping Bethesda has come up with a system for us to choose what kind of furniture and houseware we'd like in our home. I'll explain where the 3D objects come in soon. I thought is was kind of lame that we had to buy orders for only one kind of furniture (living room, dining, bedroom etc.) per home in Oblivion. And IMO, some of the furniture that came with some homes didn't really look good.

This is where 3D objects come into play. I'm hoping Bethesda changed some things with buying furniture for your home in Skyrim. Now that we can view objects in 3D, I think it would be great to go to a store in town, furniture store perhaps, and choose a piece/set of furniture that you would like to fit your home and will look good in your home. Think about it, you could view a bed in 3D and if you don't like it, you'll have other options...instead of one kind of bed that we got in Oblivion. What do you guys think?

Well yeah, that sounds like a nice little feature I guess. What more is there to say?

Personally, I really don't care, as I want my "home" (can't think of a better word right now) to be pretty small, almost claustrophobic and not overly furnitured.

Edit: Anyway, a little more diversity and customization is always nice. It does sound like a lot of work would have to go into such a feature though.

When was it confirmed? Was there any information about house-buying other than confirmation?

In Daggerfall, you got a little 3D preview of the houses and ships you could buy before purchasing them. That was also the game where they all more or less looked the same aside from color, so it didn't mean much. :P

No that was it...just the confirmation. I don't have a link, it was confirmed though, trust me.

it sounds like the kind of thing they would have to spend alot of time developing, and for a very small part of the overall gameplay experience. Buying houses is a really small part of the game at the end of the day...

Yea a 3D furniture viewer sounds like a nice feature to me. The furniture options were not that great in Oblivion, although my characters house was the one in Bruma and I actually liked the options of furniture that that house had.

hey, fender... your signature used to be MY signature... but for some reason it was just deleted, kinda irritated me, because i couldnt remember the exact quote... now i remember, thanks to you.

actually, the signature even looks exactly how mine was set up, except for the font size/color...

anyway... i do like this idea of more customization for houses, but i wont be upset if its not in, because it does seem like alot of extra work.

I would like to be able to buy individual pieces of furniture and arrange the layout of the player home myself. Being able to see what the furniture looks like in 3D before I buy would be nice. Oblivion had a couple of mods that almost did the job, but not quite. You still weren't able to pick up and toss out the old tacky furniture.

I would like to get alot of different furniture sets to suit each of my characters taste. I would also love to have a greater choice of items to sit around and decorate my house. This is always something I have wanted to do in Elder Scrolls, its a major thing for me any form of customization makes each character unique. I also like the option to rotate objects so we get a better idea of how the item looks and how it could work in a house I hope they apply it to furniture as well.

YOU COULD BUY SHIPS IN DAGGERFALL! They must have this in Skyrim as Nords are master of sailing (and we should be able to take up piratry in this game 'Arrghhh') why could i have not been born earlier to have all these blessed games! Being 16 svcks!
