One Companion?

Post » Wed Oct 06, 2010 4:08 am

I came across a chick named Veronica at the 188 Trade Post and wanted to bring her along as well. I thought you would at least be able to bring the companion you are walking with to your place, leave them there, come back and then be able to walk with one or the other. However, it appears that is not the case. For some reason the game only lets you walk with or even have one companion at a time...That is just kind of wack. If this is not the case and I have done something wrong in acquiring this other companion, please let me know...

One human or humanoid companion at any one time in your party.
The previous one you had in party either goes home or to the lucky 38 if you've made it that far.

You also get one non humanoid companion, ED-E a floating eyebot, or later on a robo dog called Rex.

You get one human plus one non-human companion. If you want to have more than one human companion and you're playing on PC, you can go to the http://www.newvegasnexus.com/ and find a mod for multiple companions. But keep in mind that the more companions you have, the harder it will be to control them AND the more kills they will steal from you.

Thanks...I was more interested in having the option to leave one human at home and go out into the wastes with the other still walking with one partner at a time..

Technically you *can* collect as many as you want in your home, but this feature only applies to
Spoiler
the Lucky 38 Presidential Suite, acquired after talking to Mr. House for the first time IIRC.

Once you get it, you can choose to fire them to that location rather than back to their respective starting points.

So can you have multiple "potential" companions just waiting around for you at the 38? ...cuz that would be pretty sweet to be able to just go there to swap them out whenever you feel like changing partners for a while.

..also, does anyone know if a dismissed companion keeps all the items you give them? Can you still retrieve those items at a later date, or should you allways clean them out before you part ways?

Since most have 'homes' close to Fast Travel locations, I don't see why it's that much more time consuming to FT there, fire them (or they'll FT there themselves now, just not for me :( ), then FT back to get them. Especially when you have to walk the strip, enter the 38, take the elevator etc. Boone goes back to the Dino, Raul has his own FT shack location, Veronica the 188, ED-E back to that house in Primm, and so on.....but it is kinda cool to have them all hanging out in one spot for kicks.

Also, if you go against House, I think you eventually lose the option to even send them to the 38. But maybe there's a way around that even, never tried. Seems like there's a way around almost everything, either by design or glitch. lol

If you're on the PC, there's a mod you can use to set any place in the Wasteland as your "home" for followers to always return to. Very useful for those who have modded player homes in out of the way areas or just want all the companions to hang out and 'sandbox' in a location other than the Lucky 38. Here's the link:
