Do you think Skyrim will actually live up to all the hype?

Post » Wed Oct 06, 2010 6:18 am

I think this will be the first game this year to actually come close to the hype, if not meet or exceed it. LA Noire sort of met its hype, but ithas been very spotty when it comes to player reactions. Actually, waiting on Skyrim has ruined other games for me; no game can satisfy the excitement at all, except Skyrim.

I think it'll live up to the hype. Everyone who has seen the game in action has come away impressed so I'm not worried.

Simple Answer: Yes
Dramatic Answer: I Believe it will be the RPG to end all RPG's in a ferocious fiery ball of Dragon awesomness
Logical Answer: I think, when the game was announced and slowly lots of features and things in the game were announced day by day i was sleepless about it, then when i joined this forum to spread my hypeness i started reading other threads and slowy started to believe the stupidness of non-believers about how the game will not be as good as expected, now this thread has made me think about things and i now know bethesda will give us the game we all want so badly, its just a matter of how often they release new and awesome information, pictures and videos about the game that fills our hype bar which decreases after a while of no new info... i know as soon as i see a new video or set of pictures or whatever ill be right at the top of the hype bar and i will not be able to sleep again for days. And remember E3 is soon... i know personally i and hundreds of other peoples hype bars will be above and beyond.

No, of course not. Oblivion didn't live up to it by a wide margin, despite the 15-year-old site reviewers with no memories of earlier games at all, who needed changes of shorts when they first saw it. PR campaigns are very slick--it is one of the largest US industries, after all--and that we're being sold, right now: PR.

I'll wait about 6-12 months after Skyrim's release, and see how friends whose opinions I trust think about it in detail. I'll watch to see what mods come out, indicating what Skyrim lacks, how well it runs, and whether what it does well fits in with what I like. Then I may buy it...or not. I'm still deriving a hell of a lot of fun out of Morrowind and Oblivion, both heavily modded. But I will keep an open mind, once the product actually appears.

For me? Yes. But, i cannot speak for others. Hype can be a very depressing thing. Do you guys remember Reach? Nuff said.

Very true; hype can be a depressing thing.

I try not to get hyped up, but I can't help it.

In fact, only Morrowind didn't disappoint me, because it was the first TES game I had played, I didn't catch any of the hype at the time, and I didn't know what to expect.

When you come into a game like that, the game is incredible. It's when you build up your hopes about something that it lets you down the most.

Oblivion was the game I first played from the elder scrolls and I loved it never really noticed any flaws untill people started showing them.

Hype is a terrible thing. And we're all doing it right now simply by being on these forums daily.
