Why are you being executed?

I dropped a duce on the steps of white gold tower. They caught me heading into Skyrim.

would be the most plausible for anyone lol :lmao: the player is captured by Imperials heading into Skyrim, so  :D

We intentionally don’t give him [the character] a backstory,” Howard would later explain. “The Elder Scroll games you start in prison and I always like to think it’s up to you to figure out why, and if you think you’re a good character then this is obviously a mistake. We set it up that you’ve come over the border into Skyrim and the Imperials captured you.”

1. Trying to figure out who would inherit the shop once the owner is killed.
2. Trying to see how price go up if the economy system got destroyed.

I dont remember!! But I must have been framed since Im a good guy... or so I think, I mighta actually done something to deserve my sentence. Maybe down the road I'll come up with more backstory... probably not and it will forever remain a mystery :)

In all seriousness, didn't Todd say you were caught crossing the border into Skyrim?

Which in itself is a crime punishable by death, as stated by Todd Howard I believe. Which is why I took the mick out of this thread to begin with.

Do your characters have backstories yet? Why are they being executed?

My character was sentenced to death for filling a bulletin board in town full of one-line topics about insignificant and frivolous nothings to raise his perceived status by increasing the number of "contributions" he had made.

He was arrested for crossing the border just ahead of a mob of townspeople with torches and pitchforks, but his reprieve was short-lived.

Once his captors spoke to the mob chasing him and found out why he was being pursued, they moved him straight to the top of the next day's execution roster. (And weweased another pwisoner named Wodewick to keep their counts in order.)

For being hideously ugly. Yep, the first thing I'll do in the game is try and push the facegen to its limits.

They said your character was caught crossing the border into Skyrim. Why he was going to Skyrim is left up to you.

Knocked a wooden bowl off a bench, tried to put it back, and got arrested. I tried to resist by telling them I was just putting it back and they told me to pay with my blood, so now I'm gonna be executed.

I've got three characters (basically, a fighter, mage, and thief) with long histories in other games; I'm still working on their stories for Skyrim.

Fighter: a Redguard mercenary who has fought on both sides of the current civil unrest in the Empire. Disobeying a suicidal order from her Imperial commanders, she saved the lives of her unit at the expense of the battle, then deserted before she could face court-martial. Later she hired on with separatist forces near the Skyrim border, and once again she found herself ordered into extreme danger. This time the sole survivor of her unit, she deserted again and fled north. Captured by Imperials while illegally crossing the border, she was recognized by a former comrade and sentenced to death for desertion and insubordination.

Mage: a Dunmer mystic whose ancestors escaped Vvardenfell's destruction via teleportation but were killed soon after in the Argonian invasion, he is determined to rediscover the deepest, forbidden secrets of the "Old Way" by pursuing dangerous studies of the relationship between magic and reality itself. Unfortunately, in his younger years, he was less than secretive about his intentions. Since Fourth Era Tamriel no longer recognizes Mysticism as a legitimate school of magic, and since research of teleportation magic in particular is strictly forbidden due to its destabilizing effect, not only on the membranes between worlds, but on those that hold the world itself together, he was declared a thought criminal by the Empire. Resolving to travel to the Isle of Artaeum in the hopes of discovering the lost secrets of the Psijics, the mage set out from Morrowind to travel by foot across a continent. He chose to avoid Cyrodiil for as long as possible, and therefore went first to Skyrim, where he was captured at the border and again recognized by his Imperial captors.

Thief: I will get her story started later.

Great thread! I wouldn't have gotten this down in text without it. Really helping me flesh out these ideas.

My pansy uber-weak hard mode character gets detained and sentenced for "public witchcraft". That is, appearing in the middle of the town square, drunk and nvde, with a werewolf trying to eat his legs off.

Now, prior to this, there was some sort of accident with the Large Hadron Collider and a bottle of Jack Daniels. SCIENCE! at its finest.

I still need to come up with a reason why my Arcane Archer is in jail. I heard the guards don't like it when you climb the town hall without using your hands. I was just trying to get a good view of the area, you know?
