Ancient Vampires And Vampires

Post » Sun Oct 10, 2010 11:34 pm

I really hope vampires are harder to beat in this game, in oblviion killing a vampire is the same as killing a regular mortal bandit. Not saying every single vampires should be super hard to kill but at least make them move really fast and have them hit much harder then regular bandits. Now the ancient vampires should be really hard to kill, even harder than an dremora lord.

I rather be one than kill them. But hey, killing rival vampire ancients can be fun.

That'd be cool. It'd be soo much cooler than bandit bandit bandit....bandit ringleader! who is just a bandit with a bit more health and damage... If they made ancient vampires more of full on bosses that'd be really cool in my book. Also, wasn't there at least one vampire like that in Morrowind? Besides the guy with the daedric armor (pauldrons I think)

I don't know about harder than a Dremora Lord. Vampires have a bit of Daedric heritage that makes them powerful and immortal. . . but Daedra lords are pure Daedra through and through., Immortal from beginning to forever.

Do you think there are two types of Vamps? the love child of Vivec and malacath? and the ones whos origins trace back to Skyrim?

To my knowledge there are 3 types, cyrodylic (oblivion), the ice vampires (mentioned in a book) and the more classical vampires (morrowind and earlier)

I had almost forgotten of the offspring and the relationship of Vivec and Malacath. That is something. By Skyrim breed, I assume you mean those with the heritage of Molag Bal? I believe the latter make up the overwhelming majority.

Based on the book, there are much more than three. For instance, the Valenwood ones who can dissapporate/turn into mist, et cetera.

Am I the only one that found the cave of vamps harder than the usual bandit in a castle? I swear them going invisble and jumping me was so annoying. Fireball, invisble, run away. fireball, invisble, run away. Abosrb health, invible, run away. Le sigh. Still won't mind them being tough, but if they were too tough people are gonna ask "If these vamps are tough, why arn't there more?" Normal vamps need a buff like morrowind ones did for each clan, but not CAN TOUCH THIS hammer time (to the face) I mean it all depends on the vamp types as post above me states, seeing as morrowind I think last I heard from threads about lore with link (so no clue) morrowind is has a link in trading so maybe a greater chance of morrowind vamps, croping up prehaps?

No far from it I know for a fact there are more than 3,they are all the same species but there are several sub species
Querra
Berne
Audene(All morrowind)
Order(Cyrdoil)
7 in the illac bay
Whet-fang (Black Marsh)
Glenmoril Wyrd(High rock)
Volikhar(skyrim)
Several other are in Skyrim according to "Immortal Blood" although it only states one it says "One of the tribes are the Volikhar"
Bonsamu(Valenwood)
Keelerith(Valenwood)
Yekef(ValenWood)
Telboth(ValenWood)
So no there is not "3 types" ,The telboth for one can take the place of children (Shapeshift) ,some can turn into mist others can use magicka to paralize enemies,so there is several more types than 3,

I want vampires to be much easier to kill. I want to be able to swat them like flies, just because that would amuse me.

An ancient vampire should be equatable, IMO, to a Dremora Lord as suggested. I mean, what else can they be compared to? Certainly if you take, say, perhaps an Archmage of the former Mage Guild, who should be among the most powerful spell casters, versus a spell casting Ancient Vampire (leader of a clan or not), surely the Vampire would outpower them. Definitely they wouldn't be as immortal as the Dremora Lords, but of course they're at least partially Daedric, too. It'd be nice to, if you come across one, to get that eerie and overwhelming feeling of awe when fighting.

As for normal vampires, I think it should be only moderately harder to fight them. If to use Oblivion's Vampires as an example: The bonuses you got didn't really change anything. I cannot say how it would be in Skyrim, but, say, unless they haven't fed for a long time, they wouldn't be that strong. Now, if you're fighting them, then they probably are strong, for whatever reason, whether not feeding or something else.

So - they'd pack a slightly bigger punch (Or is it bite...? lol ;) ) but every fight wouldn't be epic.

I definitely would love to see more "Ancient Vampire" stuff, compared to Morrowind and Oblivion. Of course TES isn't a game about Vampires, but... It is more or less a faction in and of itself, like the equivalents of Fighter and Mage (despite being disbanded). So having that side of gameplay fleshed out would be quite lovely.

Ancient Vampires from Daggerfall. Enough said.

Those things were frightening at lower levels.
