Hoover Dam

Post » Mon Oct 18, 2010 5:29 am

Hi All.

Hope sombody can help with this problem please.

I'm trying to gain access to Hoover Dam to begin a New Quest.

Using the Road I'm being blocked from going on to the Dam by an invisible Barrier. I can only get past it either using console command or fast traveling to get to the Dam offices.
I have the same problem getting off. The same Invisible barrier is still there.

Any ideas as to the cause please? Approaching from wrong direction.?

This problem was ot the when First installing the game. Only Since the latest patch.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your time.

James.

I had no problem walking down the road to the dam. Don't remember what level I was when I did it for the first time.

Try swimming to it and climbing up the ladder. See if the invisible barrier is there too.

Hi Traveler.

Thank you very much for your reply and advice. I''l give it a try.

Tried a New player. Ran all the way from Goodsprings.Still blocked.

I've beee on it with an earlier run through. Is there a certain quest which needs to be done to unblock the Dam that you would know of please?

Thanks again.

Screenshot of where you're being blocked? Or at least a better location description? "The Road to Hoover Dam" is a rather large area to look over.

Hi Urtho.

Thank you for your reply. Your correct. Beter location info needed. Sorry.

I'm almost on the Dam. There's A gaurd Position on your left as you approach. The barrier is Just before The Gaurd.

I'm trying to think I may have missed something which clears the Barrier in an earlier Quest.

I'm Idolised by the NCR. Reputation should be fine.

Only differance I can think of. The first task going to the Dam in my last game came from the NCR. Getting on the Dam was not a problem. First task this time has come from Mr House.

Hope this helps better this time.

Thank You.

There should be no quest requirements to just approach the Dam as far as I remember. I looked in the GECK and this is what I see:

From your description it looks like that grey shadowy wall across the road is about where you're being stopped (correct if wrong). That's a static collision barrier and will indeed stop you from crossing it, but it's not supposed to be there until the final stages of the main quest after certain events take place.

If you're seeing that on a brand new game... that's very puzzling and I'm not sure what the problem is. Are you using any mods that might have added some weird landscape changes? Re-verify all files in Steam as well, perhaps something has gotten corrupted.

Hi Urtho.

Thank you again for taking the time to help. Very much appreciated. :tops:

Where the Rock is in the middle of the road. Thats where I come to a Halt. The only way round it is tcl in consol or using fast Travel/ Which I hate using. Its like cheating using that. lol

I've now reverted to trying a clean install. Only problem I can't see with Steam Is How clean is it. Theres No telling. Pre Steam Clean install was certain.

Just an after thought. Would the block be picked up using NVEdit please?

I do use Mods. Only a small number 35. Oblivion 100+ lol :whistling:

Thak you again for your time and help.

James. :)
