Double Ended Weapons

Post » Fri Oct 22, 2010 12:45 am

If you guess what this thread is about then you win a new speedboat (giant hidden charges and fees may apply)

Basically... i like to draw, and i started to draw a basic look of what my character may look like... so the typical Nord Dovahkiin guy then i gave him a long axe in each hand with the blade pointing downwards, then i couldnt think of a cool design for the handle so i just drawn another axe on the bottom (or top... whatever way you percieve) in experimentation which led me to wonder... do you think double sided weapons would fit or make it in the game? I can see a rouge with a double bladed dagger or a mage who fires spells from both sides of the staff as a combo attack... what do you think?

Meh, I don't really see the point in having double-ended weapons. Along with dual-wielding, it would all seem a bit... much.

It's certainly possible for designs sake, but things like that would likely require new combat animation to make any use of the secondary blade, which would be a nice amount of work. Though just as weapons they'd be awesome and fairly easy...compared to some things at least

Edit- Yay, another artist :)

There was that one unique weapon in morrowind that was kind of like what you are talking about (reminded me of the klingon Bat'leth) though I'm not really sure it's the same.

Edit : ah Daedric Crescent thank you that was what it was called.

I know, I can't remember why I posted two things but there was a reason...
And maybe because some people like them and they are fun? Not everything fun needs a point.

Ah, I see
Well, I was just stating my opinion on double-ended weapons. Of course some people like them. I just don't think they are necessary.

Double ended weapons are generally used like dual-wielding as opposed to being a two handed weapon.

Which is phenomenally stupid. Ask anyone who has studied the use of a Bo or Quarterstaff. They're two-handed weapons, and their use bears no resemblance to dual-wielding.

Popcorn has no nutritional value. Ice cream has fat, sugar, carbs, protein and calcium. Those are nutritional values.

No. When I first read the thread title I thought, "oh, another junior jedi wants his double bladed longswords to go all Darth Maul on someones behind"

I'm fine with the weapons as they are.

To wield a double ended weapon, you've got to be either incredibly skilled or incredibly stupid.
I think we'll just stick to dual wielding.

It would be interesting to be able to use staffs in malee as quartersfaffs. Two bladed weapons though, I preffer away from my gaming experience (nothing against being an option to the player, but better if NPCs didn't use it).
