Supporting the stereotype, armour

Although in real life, knights could do backflips and dodge very effectively in heavy armor... Which is why they were the only troops that did wear heavy armor.... Agree with you about mage. 5% magic effectiveness loss, big deal. But I think mage in general is overpowered.

That's a good idea. I just don't think the base rules for armor should be so complicated. I like the idea of giving leather gloves a bonus to shooting. Actually why not use that over giving metal armor a penalty. It's nicer to the player. Leather gloves can give you a bonus to shooting, well metal gloves give you a bonus to melee weapons.

Using perks is a good way to do things too. If you give stealth players a perk that lets them sneak better in leather boots, they will wear leather boots. The means are different, but the end is the same.

Indeed, perhaps I′m focusing too much on minuses instead of pluses. Even if it′s essentially the same it would give more the feeling of "this armor will make me stronger" than "this armor will make some parts of me weaker". I still think though that there is no easy way to make the characters different without basically having set bonuses, and that just looks weird, and then no one would mix up armors. I′m kinda fond of making it desirable for some players to not go fully in one type of armor.

But the armour I see in those videos are far different from what we saw in Oblivion, I mean who can say that the Daedric suit was not far clunkier and heavier than the armour in those videos ? So perhaps not change the attributes of the armor as much as the design of it ?

While it may be true that Daedric armor appears bulkier and clunkier, the same principles would still apply. Any armor that is so heavy and bulky that it restricts movement also restricts your ability to fight, and that makes it pretty much useless. I think it's safe to assume, therefore, that even Daedric armor allows that that kind of freedom of movement.

I think perks is what will make people chose their armor, rather than going for whatever has the most DR.

Maybe there will be

Perks for cloth (robes) that give you more Magicka, regen MP faster, spell effectiveness, spell resistance.
Perks for light armor (leather) that makes you run faster, have more Stamina, regen SP faster, and maybe jump higher.
Perks for heavy armor (metal) that increase Health, regen HP faster, Possibly a perk that lets you knock someone over if you sprint into them?

Maybe but I think there needs to be a base for something. Like if there are no penalties on heavy armor boots. Can you imagine someone sneaking around in those ? *CLONK CLANK CLINK CLONK*

yeah heavy should cause NPC to be alerted more easily, especially if the AI recognizes sound.

But don't wanna go too nuts on the penalties, it hurts hybrids alot.

I don't see what's wrong what we already have, I don't we need an overly complicated system for this.

Heavy armor slows you down and making casting spells in them more difficult...
Maybe make those flaws more severe, I dunno...
