Returning Morales' body

Post » Sun Oct 31, 2010 9:07 pm

ISince I thought I had to return the body to McCarran, and you can't fast travel carrying it, I traipsed some LONG distances until I realized that you have to return the body to a NCR troop camped north of the RR tracks near Repcon HQ, I think. I can't seem to locate them. Some help please!

They are behind a sandbag barricade just slightly NW of the building where Morales body was located on the other side of the railroad tracks. I think it's just past a playground too.

Jeez I hate this quest, all you get is more NCR rep, yawn. And at first I thought you had to drag the body back to camp mcarran so that was annoying as well.

He's your husband lady, walk 300 yards and get his body your damn self.

It's especially dumb in that no one in the NCR can deal with 4 Fiends out in the open on roof with clear sight lines all around and a few mines and traps around the body? That's what is so daunting that they simply can't handle it and warn you off as a suicide mission if you attempt it?

I talked with the NCR soldiers at the sandbags, got the warning, walked a few steps and to get a slightly better angle on the roofs. Crouched down and 4 shots later from my trusty Hunting Rifle the remains of their heads were littering the ground behind the building their corpses were now resting on top of. Thanks for the shotgun ammo and XP from your "deadly" traps as well, dead Fiends.

Rather pathetic showing from the NCR, to be honest.

Haha, I did this as well, too. Since I approached the spot without going anywhere near where the NCR are placed, I completely bypassed the NCR guys/their message. Dragged the corpse most of the way back to McC before I realize the quest arrow wasn't going there. Then I tried following the quest arrow and lamely got lost in circles before I finally found them. So annoying.

I also like how the NCR guys tell me 'how could you do that to your body!" when I haven't even taken a scratch.

Yeah, that quest is a stumble for sure in such a well-written game. Real missed potential for what should have been an insane firefight/booby trap festival. Should have been a maze of junk and buildings setup like Paradise Falls with at least 10X as many Fiends and 30X the traps.

It could have been EPIC!! ... and then the NCR guys behind the sandbags would look sensible instead of like idiots... and you probably would have a wound or two, so the comment would make sense.

Maybe they ran out of time.

I fast traveled to REPCONN Headquarters and was all ready for the epic firefight. I didn't get to kill one of the Fiends. Arcade and ED-E turned them to goo and ash before I could even find a good place to shoot from.

The NRC is pretty sad though. I watched one poor NCR guard get killed by his own guard dog once, so I could understand how four Fiends could seem daunting.

...your average NCR trooper/grunt does seem comparatively weak. I sometimes wonder if they're bugged because with their gear they shouldn't be that much weaker than low lvl fiends and legion (not talking higher lvl legion)...but they are. Haven't checked their hit points tho...maybe they have terrible health.

Now what really irks me about this quest is that there is a second ranger corpse that nobody seemingly gives a [censored]e about. Sure pull out one guy,... the other guy? Nah. [censored] him. He is food for teh crows.

Hey that's right, I forgot about him! Not even a set of dog tags to bring back for his family, IIRC.

That's got to be unfinished. Hard to believe the mighty Obsidian writers looked at that and said, "OK, that looks great, high fievs y'all. Let's go get some beer."

I was rather disappointed with this quest as well, and expected heavier opposition than merely four humpty dumpties.

Finding the corpse drop-off point wasn't a problem, since the Pip-Boy journal entry was fairly specific "… The body is just east of Repconn HQ and I should carry it to the troopers camped out on the north side of the railroad tracks."

It's an unmarked quest. If you talk to Christina Morales, a pretty NCR Trooper who you can find sitting around looking sad in the Camp McCarran Concourse, she'll give you a note and directions. I just randomly talked to her, because as I said, she's very pretty.

Literally just did this one for the first time and yeah it's weird.
I sniped all the fiends (5 for me I think...) then carefully walked up to the body before realising the ONLY traps were round the back, a few measly bear traps and a single tripwire.

Like others said I was expecting a serious fight through hell, kinda disappointed, feels wrong getting huge praise for so little.

There were more like 7 Fiends, all with Hunting Rifles that always hit you, no matter what... I had quite a hard time. But really, from that small NCR camp any half decent sniper would be able to pick a few off, so I see what you mean.

I was disappointed with the reward as well. OMG NCR reputation. Yay.

My Morales was stuck beneath the ground w/ one boot poking up. I used the console to move him to me at a lower point, but he was still underground. So I had to resurrect and kill him. *sigh* I really felt bad doing that.
