The dynamic Skyrim economy: a worthy addition, or a waste of

Waste of time, considering I'm never going to go around and try to destroy mines, sawmills, etc. that towns rely on.

I think it could be very interesting if it were to have more widespread implications such as an increase in theft or banditry in the affected area, which might then open up quests to vanquish said skallywags, or even a black market in hard to aquire resources run by cartels. It really depends on the imagination of those creating the game as to how far to develop this dynamic economy.

It could be quite lucrative if you were to 'interrupt' the supply of a commodity to a town, at the risk of attracting the attention of local law enforcement, in order to open up your own supply stream that you have gathered from other parts of Skyrim, or looted from the regular supplier... just a thought.

It sounds cool in concept. But really...is it going to play that huge a role in the game? Is torching a town's mill, smithy, field, or whatever going to have that tangible effect on me, the player? And most importantly, is there going to even be a reason for it to ever come into play? Will I ever have a reason to disrupt the local economy? Will outside forces (like warring soldiers, or bandits, or dragons) try to wreck things? Somehow...I have my doubts.

Unless it has some profound impact on the shopkeepers and interactions with other cities, I don't see the point. Seems like a bit of a one-time "PRESS E TO DESTROY THE LUMBERMILL AND NOT BE ABLE TO BUY ARROWS TEE-HEE" gimmick for me.

I'd say the mercantile skill should also need some tweaks as well as the buy/sell prices and merchants themselves (what they buy, what they'll pay, for how much they'll sell) for the "economy trick" to work properly.

Worthy.

However, I think voice acting is a waste of time; Just imagine all the money/time/space voice acting takes up in a game. Take it all out, and I bet Skyrim would be far more detailed (Open cities on consoles perhaps?) :o

Sorry, I derailed the thread there a bit, so yeah, I think the whole new economy in Skyrim is worth it.

Holy crap I agree 100% on this.

But yes, economy is worth it.

Hmm.... I was wary about posting my opinion of this, but reading through the thread, it seems it's the consensus.

I think a robust and dynamic economic system would be a great addition to the game. I don't think that's what we're going to get. I think we're going to get a few gimmicky nods to a real economy sort of wedged in here and there.

Honestly I dont give a care about it at all, unless theres a sidequest that centers around me sabotaging a town. Id much wrather them focus on something that will improve visual quality, varying content ect.
