Companions, how many can you have.

Post » Sat Nov 06, 2010 1:58 am

I don't recall reading this in any posts. How many compnaions can you have at a time? Can you have more than one? Also if you do not accept their services, or ask them to come along, what happens then? Do you loose them forever or can you find them later on?

I was playing a game, where by surprise, Boon was my companion. I wasn't ready for him to follow me so I told him to stay put. So without spoiling anything where do companions go when they are not part of your group? If you tell them to stay put, will they stay there for the entire game till you come back and ask them to follow you agian? If you tell them you don't want them anymore, can you get them back again? Do they go to a certian spot they like and then you meet up with them there?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

You can have one human companion and one non-human companion

Spoiler
If you have a positive reputation with the NCR ("Liked" I think) you also gain the ability to radio for assistance which gives you another temporarily companion or two). I haven't tried it out yet.

I didn't read the spoiler since I don't want it ruined. I did that too much in Fallout 3 and Oblivion, I want New Vegas a new experiance. Thank you guys, so I have to be carefull when I pick a companion then. So say I have a companion, and but find someone better. So where does the first one go then? Does he or she go to a certian location and I can get him or her back again if I so choose?

You can have one humanoid and one mechanical companion. You can take/release them as much as you want. However some of them require quest to be finished, only then they are available for recruitment. If you tell them to stay, they will stay ...forever. If you release them from party, they will travel either to location where you recruited them or to Vegas if you happen to have a home there.

Wrong.

Spoiler
the max you can have is 4 companions
1/ a robot,
2/ a person or dog,
3/ if you are liked with ncr you can call on iether a trooper or ranger to help you, these stay til lthey are killed then you can call them again after 24 hours,
4/ freeside only you can hire a bodyguard.

but normally you can only have 2 companions the robot and 1 more.

Wrong.

Oh, yeah, right, LOL, my mistake. I was thinking party of 5, but of course that's only 4 companions.
