You use bobby pins as lockpicks. You can buy them from many vendors and you find them all over the place.

EDIT: I'm rather stunned you haven't come across them yet. Did you think they were just junk maybe?

They're called "bobby pins" in the Fallout universe. You'll find them in loot containers or laying loose (rarely). Looking around Goodsprings should have netted you at least a handful at the very start of the game.

You find things called bobbypins and you use them to open locks etc. They break though and are very easy to find... i don't see how you have not found any yet.

Try looting some houses or check a general store for bobbypins.

You can also purchase them from many general store vendors such as good springs, traveling traders or Novak. They are a common drop on Gouls for whatever reason too.

I have a S[illy] of my own. Is there anyone here that does not know what a "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_pin" is?

There are several posts that refer to them as though they are quite unfamiliar.
(Could be language barrier though... "Bobby Pin" isn't commonly used, and wouldn't [usually] be picked up in casual speech among males .)

Well, bobby pin is a rather American colloquialism that stems from the bobbed haircuts popular in 20s America so I wouldn't be shocked if people outside of the US wouldn't be familiar with them. I know in England they're called Kirby pins or something like that.

No, I believe they are exactly the same. I used to rock climb with a lot of Brits and one of the girls used to always put her hair back with bobby pins which is what led to the discussion about how they call them Kirby pins (actually I believe she called them grips like you said) which is why I knew this useless bit of trivia ;)

A helpful tip in case you don't have very many bobbypins, when you are trying to open something and you're getting to the point of almost breaking the bobbypin, back out/cancel the attempt and then go back in and your bobbypin should be completely restored. This helps the longevity of your bobbypin supply.
