Hair and cloaks

Post » Sun Nov 07, 2010 11:27 am

In a land like Skyrim, one would expect alot of wind, tundras, mountains, you know. So, what if the wind blows, and like, your hair and clothing gets pulled along. I always liked the beuty of a majestic hero with a long cloak flowing in the wind. The idea would be especially cool for kahjiits, the wind would sway in the wind, besides, Bethesda is making individual tree limbs sway to the wind, why not clothing and hair, speaking of which, will there even be cloaks in Skyrim?

Considering TES games are primarily first-person games, adding such features would be a bit of a waste of time I think.

It doesnt matter, as long as it is a good game, but I have heard mention of cloaks alot, will they be in the game?

Not really, not for those reasons anyway, considering that there are other NPCs in the world. You're gonna' be seeing a lot of them, and it fits if they too look like they're immersed in the harsh environment of Skyrim.

Not happening, though. If the trailer is anything to go by, hair isn't physiqued, and I highly doubt Bethesda will be making any cloaks.

Well they are role playing games.
I use the 3rd person as much as I use the first person view. I'm sure many people do.

I wouldn't mind having that in the game, but I'm not holding my breath.

Hopefully. There were plenty of robes in Oblivion, so there's no reason why they shouldn't do cloaks as well.

True. I didn't think of that.

I never actually wore robes, but I am sure alot of mages would be angry if they were taken out. Glad they might not be.

Only thing I liked about Mafia 2 was the fact if you wore a loose clothing it would flow as you ran. I would love a similar effect in Skyrim instead fo the "I stapled the trenchcoat to my legs" look stuff has in Oblivion/F3/F:NV

That would require cloth physics which is really really hard to implement?
I heard Witcher 2 devs said they were struggling with making the witcher's hair move.

I can 99,99% say it won't be in

Is it really that difficult to implement? As has been menioned Skyrim is windy place so the extra effort that would go into adding clothing physics wouldn't go to waste. There shouldn't be a performance issues either because Red Dead had it on the console and it looked damn good.

Agree. Still waiting for game where hair moves other than soul calibur and the original fable.
I would like to be able to wear cloaks over top armor like on morrowind

EDIT: Hauberks, tabards, and surcoats YES PLEASE!!! A skill to make custom ones would be nice!!??!?!??!

This wouldn't be my first priority but would be amazing to see in game, and I would enjoy cloaks in this game. Nothing says hero like a cloak; just as nothing says "i kill every1 i see" like an evil looking cloak either.
