ED-E quest, how does it work?

Post » Sun Nov 14, 2010 7:43 pm

Yes I have read the strat guide. Yes I have read the wiki. I have got my first message from ED-E. Now it says I need to wait 9 days. So my question is, is it 9 days with ED-E has to be my side, or can it be 9 days while I tell him to leave and he is in Primm and I can wander the waste land, and show up 9 or more days later and then visit him. I don't like have him with me, because I svck at the game and he keeps getting himself killed all the time. So I have him in Primm to be safe.

So can I visit him say 9 days later and still go on to the next level, or does he have to be with me for 9 days straight? Also what do I need to get the second recording activated? I tried to go to Helios One and talk about everthing mentioned in the Strat guide and still nothing is working for me.

What can I do? I just can't get it to work. I am on the 360.

I believe that you have to have him as a companion over the 9 day period. You can leave him to wait and keep going back and reactivating him to follow and then wait again (he leaves you if you abandon him for a length of time), but I'm pretty sure you can't fire him in the middle of his quest. Someone else will tell us if that's wrong.

After the 9 days, *then* you go to Helios and talk with Fantastic and Rivas. You'll be contacted after that by the entities that want to examine him. His quest happens slowly over time but it's so worth it...if you get the upgrade I got. :)

A tip to help ED-E stay alive longer, so he stops running off, hitting everything in sight and getting destroyed - set his attack mode to melee. He has no melee weapon and no way to performed unarmed attacks, so he will just hang back near you all the time rather than piss off half the Vegas Wasteland.

Thanks HandofBane, I never thought of that since I didn't think he could do melee. I will try that indeed.

That svcks I have to keep him as a companion Kicenna, because as I said, he dies alot. I will try what HandofBane suggested and see if that helps out.

Thanks guys.

ED-E does "die" a lot but it doesn't matter. He's really just unconscience and comes right back alive in about 5 seconds after crouching into the Hidden position.

But if you're playing in hardcoe Mode .... then I guess it matters.

ED-E does ......................after crouching into the Hidden position.

This just struck me as funny. I mean, he floats and has no legs, how can he Crouch?

Sorry, you can return to your regularly scheduled postings now.

Glad you got a good laff. :foodndrink:

I'll reword it for clarity: ED-E does "die" a lot but it doesn't matter. He is really only unconscience for the moment. He returns to life after your player character crouches in the Hidden position for about 5 seconds.

Yeah, I am playing in hard core mode. :)

Oh ... then it matters. I find ED-E pretty docile in the melee mode.
