Since when have explosives been sympathetic?

Steam's F:NV page has a http://kotaku.com/5675634/grudge-match-200-frag-mines-vs-some-guy of someone piling up 200 frag mines around Boon and then setting them all off by shooting one. I tried setting traps like that in FO3 by piling those useless frag grenades around a land mine and hoping it would set them off. The grenades weren't sympathetic to the mine though, and where just scattered around the room by the explosion. Is this new? Does it work with all explosives? I'd try it myself but haven't been able to play for more then 3 minutes at a time...

Mines explode other mines. They don't explode grenades. Grenades can explode mines, though, I think. Been that way since 3.

Holy [censored], that video is awesome! Boone had to get about 300-400' in the air. The funniest thing is the "Boone is unconscious" message though.
