Exploiting the dark elves : V

They're going to be exploited somehow, but how? I mean just the groups of former refugees along the border, this wouldn't apply everywhere. Will they be an underclass serving their landlords? Will they be assembled as a military force to be part of the civil war? Could they be left alone as long as they pay tribute? Or has enough time passed that it isn't really an issue?

Can we have a useable whip as an in-game item? Walking through a town or out in the wild if I come across a dark elf I just want to be to give it a lash or two.

Seeing as it's a good 160 years or so after Morrowind has fallen, I don't think tensions are going to be that high. I'd like to think the Dunmer people have learned from their mistakes and have forgiven the Argonians and are learning to be a more loving race.

Of course, they're probably even bigger, more-arrogant jerks than they were before.

YES! I love the Argonians & would love to make the dark elves pay for oppressing them! I'd ignore a dragon attacking me just to beat so much (censored) out of a dark elf that they will be brown for weeks!

im not sure racial tensions usually run deep even in (most) fantasy universes, hell we as a people still havent gotten over our differences.

It's already been confirmed by Todd in the recent German TV interview with Gameswelt that racism against elves will be a prominent story element in Skyrim.

There is at least one racist Nord faction that the PC will encounter where we have to choose which side to help (the Nords or the Elves).

I wonder if this will extend to harsh treatment of Bretons in Skyrim, since my understanding is that they are descendants of Nords who bred with Aldmer.

There is at least one racist Nord faction that the PC will encounter where we have to choose which side to help (the Nords or the Elves).

I was referring to Dunmer/Argonians in light of the whole Morrowind-explodes/Argonians-invade thing.

If they're the same old xenophobic and racist Dunmer as always, then I can't say I blame the Nords one bit. I think it would be more interesting if the Dunmer had changed and it was then the Nords' turn.

It would be more of a Mer- human vs. Altmer- Elvs, not just the Nords but all of the humans except for the Bretons since they are a mix between elves and humans. Yep My character will be a Breton and side with the Elves becuase even though the Elves are backstabbing snobby A$$ holes, the humans are boring and generic and not that interresting.....

wait no. Dark elves and high elves are my favorite races. Does that mean if i am that race I can't join that faction

Todd said something about it that's a little hard to decipher, that it's more about "providing flavor" than "locking someone out" of certain quests(?).

It seems hard to imagine a scenario where you can join a racist Nord faction if you are one of the elven races they hate, but I suppose it's possible.
