In-Game Notepad, pip-notes...

Post » Mon Nov 22, 2010 5:44 pm

It would be either in the form of an item, or from pip-boy...it would be handy to be able to type notes-to-self, in-game.
Especially considering the notes would be tied to each game save. This way, it would allow you to remember where you stashed that 50 kilos of loot you had to part with for the ability to travel. Or where you told your damn companion to wait for you.
It would be invaluable in my opinion.
It would also save trees.
Anyone else think we need this?

Not a bad idea, but here's a better one in my opinion:

It would be handy to add your own map markers to the world map, and have the ability to give them a title and an extended description.

The # of markers you could add would be unlimited.

Then on the world map you'd see all your map markers (they'd be a different color so you can spot them easily) showing you things you want to remember, revisit, etc.

To me, this seems like a really key feature that Bethesda should have started using back in Oblivion or at least in Fallout 3.

I really hope they implement this in future games. It's an important feature because these huge games rely so much on the map and exploration.

Map Marker Overhaul mod for Oblivion did just that, it never made it to Fallout 3, unfotunately. Some sort of in-game notepad thingy would be good, i can only remeber so many locations with unaccessable loot.

You don't own a note-pad (hell, even a piece of paper from the garbage would do) and a pencil?

LOL I'm definitely going to have to start writing things down. The old pen and paper way ;)

That doesn't mean that an in-game function wouldn't be useful.

Indeed - it's too bad Map Marker Overhaul wasn't made for Fallout 3.

Yeah, I'm totally with you on that. That's exactly what we need. I like to keep the game as vanilla as possible...want to to still be a challenge. But remembering Locations and stashes via map markers /w descriptions would be awesome.
A trusty old notpad, works fine. But no need to waste paper on something digital...Just makes sense to me if it could simply be integrated.'
Thanks for the info...hopefully we can get a mod or patch soon.

Just take notes IRL, and to make it more "immersive" don't take any notes without carrying a pencil and a clipboard in your char's inventory.

It's a good mod idea though.
