Well, after playing Fallout: New Vegas and reading these forums, I have decided to get Fallout 2 and play that too. Anything I should know or look for while I play that may broaden my NV experience?

You mean stuff in Fallout 2 that is referenced in New Vegas?

I think you'll come across most of it if you're just playing it normally. Some of the locations in F2 are name-dropped in New Vegas, some are featured (NCR). Some character references as well.

If you pay attention in Fallout 2 (story, characters, locations) and have good memory, you'll sure notice the references in New Vegas. But there's nothing major in particular to look for as the references are mostly subtle (apart from the NCR). They do give a broader view on the setting though, subtle or not.
