I think FO3 has it so I'm pretty sure Skyrim will have it unless they stay with the Oblivion system of skills (which I love).

Experience doesn't make much sense to me with quests - depending on the level at which you complete it too, it could either be a great boon or a total waste of time. There'd be players doing quests in specific orders to maximize point gain, like power levelling in MMORPGs. I don't want to see that.

How about free training or skill books, like they did in the other games?

I can tell the next year or so is going to be fun.

Okay, experience for quests in the Fallout series was not a Bethesda design decision- it was a Bethesda "do it the way this franchise originated by someone else always did it" non-decision.

And, Bethesda hasn't shown much interest in giving experience for quests in previous TES games. That's something in the "consoles and MMOs, all about quick and simple" category.

Oh [censored].

Wonder how much experience the main quest will be worth. :sigh:

No.

I'd rather complete my quests because they mean something to me, not just for the sake of character progression.

Besides, the skill exp system is one of the things that makes TES unique from other RPGs.

In Morrowind and Oblivion, there really was no emphasis on a character's level. Ultimately, your ability and strength depends on your equipment, the way you've allotted skill points, and your money. I hope quests in Skyrim stick to this general formula and reward money or items instead of an experience model.

No, for reasons others have mentioned, mainly the idea that in Elder Scrolls games I only do quests because either A) I want to do the quest or B) I want a reward for the quest. I don't want to do quests for the sake of experience.

From what I remember playing in Fallout 3 and New Vegas, the one big downside to getting xp while leveling is that it discourages exploration. If you can get most of your xp by completing a quest, why bother exploring the world at all? At least encourage players to get out to the world and experience what the game has to offer.

All I know is I don't want the same skill-based system as Oblivion. Grinding skills breaks immersion and makes character progression tedious. I hope they find a new system for Skyrim.
