Skyrim Races - Body types

Post » Mon Feb 14, 2011 4:08 am

I think it would be cool to have a couple preset body types to fit the frames of different types of character archetypes. When traveling through Oblivion and Morrowind, I had to wonder where all the fat people from daggerfall went. Sort of tampered with the immersion when everyone is set to a specific body type.

I'd love the option to be old fat yet strong looking. Like a retired warrior. Although I'd settle on just a different height and muscle mass depending on race.

I full support a make-over of those species (somewhere in between Morrowind and Oblivion), but that would also mean there would have to be special suits of armor specifically for those races. Part of the reason all the races were generic was to not have to deal with these issues and focus on other tasks that had higher priority.

Argonians and Khajiits should be radically different in their body structure, like in Morrowind. In Morrowind they even had different walks, which was great - they would walk with this loping style if they had legs like they did in Morrowind, and they should! I was disappointed when in Oblivion, Khajiits and Argonians were just weird-looking people. They're beast races, and should be beastier.

Oh indeed. But that works for Orcs, too. I just feel they ought to be fierce, not so jolly rosy-cheeked. Not that I'm judging, but there ought to be at least a couple of them in the game on whom you should be actually afraid to tie pink ribbons on.

I'd love it if there were more body types. Maybe not quite as alien as in Morrowind, if it's such a pain in the ass to mod, but a little more than in Oblivion.

Personally, I'd like it if you could choose whether or not your character was:

fat/skinny (for their race; a 'fat' high elf is going to look thin compared to a fat human, and God help you if you have to sit next to a fat orc on a bus)

Muscular/Scrawny (again, for their race. A "scrawny" redguard is still going to look like he can kick your ass, and again, God help you if you piss off a scrawny orc)

short/tall (for their race. A short wood elf is going to border on the midget side, and a tall wood elf is still going to be shorter than a tall high elf. And... yeah, orcs'll be pretty average in this system).
