Question about reveal trailer

Post » Sun Feb 13, 2011 9:13 pm

Hey, I was wondering what is being said at the end of the reveal trailer, when the Nords are singing.

I was wondering if that's just a fake language being chanted or if it's real. If it's real, does anyone know what is being said?

If it's fake, hopefully a copy of what the orchestra is reading off will be released.

I would guess they are actually saying something, looking back...

Yes, I believe so. It sounds like they say

Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin,
Yadda Yadda Skyrim!
Yadda Yadda, Yadda Yadda, Yadda Yadda Yadda!
Yadda Yadda, Yadda Yadda,
Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin,
Yadda Yadda!

I'd be very interested to see what they are saying, and even more so to have it translated. Hmmm.

We don't know.

Thanks for this immensely helpful contribution.

I was just answering your question. You asked whether the language is real or fake, we can't make out enough to tell. You asked if we know what is being said, we do not.

Correction: you don't know. Just because you don't know the answer to my question, doesn't mean nobody does.

With that said, the logical solution would have been to simply not even reply to my question if you did not know the answer. Instead, you decided to speak for the whole community, as well as the devs (which this question was equally aimed at) and claim that everyone is as ignorant as you and I. This is ultimately an unhelpful response and thus my sarcastic gratitude.

Actually I seem to hear english words there.
Lots of "For the King!" though, that which everyone translates to "Dovakhiin!"... Dunno if its me or them whose right.

For the King!
For the King!
For the King of the Wind! (?)
For the Land!
For the Glory of Blood! (?)
Something
For the Glory of Blood! (?)
For the King!
For the King!
For the Glory of Blood! (?) YAH!

Thats how I interpreted it this time.

Yea it kinda sounds like that , for the glory part I am not sure but if the old man in the backround could shut up we might understand what the manly singers are singing.

Interesting indeed. I don't hear "for the glory of blood", but I can see where you got everything else.

The reason I believe they chant "Dovahkiin", is because that's what the old man says before the chanting.

After listening to it excessively, and letting my own imagination wander, I have come up with this:

Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin,
For the savior of Skyrim!
For the land, For the whole of the open sky!
Under it we will march, to the kingdom of stars,
Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin,
The Dragonborn, HAH!

Perhaps it is not accurate, but it is now all I hear when they chant. And if that were the chant, I wouldn't have any complaints.

Anyone else have any interpretations?
