Skyrim in Skyrim?

Post » Mon Feb 14, 2011 7:33 am

I know it may seem crazy but many people actually don't want Skyrim in TES: V Skyrim, they want FO3 and FO:NV.

I want Skyrim in Skyrim, first and foremost - marinated in the juices of the atmosphere of Morrowind, with a light sprinkling of the complexity of Daggerfall.

I think he's making fun of all the "DO YOU WANT PERKS IN SKYRIM????????//" and "DO YOU WANT VATS IN SKYRIM????" threads.

He's referring to the "let's fill TES V with Fallout features!" chat. Which is strangely reminiscent of the "let's fill TES V with Fable features!" chat we got a few years back.

Yes yes, I have been questionable in my research methods but the results themselves?!?! No, they must never be questioned....

Sometimes it amazes me how little faith people have in the actual developers. As if they could all suddenly forget what you like about the series. :P

Relax, let them do their thing - I have the utmost confidence that Skyrim will be amazing. You should too. :)

That'd be like creating TES VI: Black Marsh set in Valenwood.

I don't know what you're talking about. Honestly, you say some people don't want Skyrim in Skyrim, which led me to assume that you were saying some people don't actually want the game to take place in Skyrim, which is fine, but won't change anything. The game is already too far along to change the entire setting even if Bethesda wanted to, and that sort of detail seems to be the sort of thing that you'd want to settle on during the planning phase, seeing as you'd need to take this sort of thing into account when designining the game world, the characters and creatures, both hostile and otherwise, that populate it, the quests, and such, and in any case, don't you think calling a game that doesn't take place in Skyrim "Skyrim" would be kind of stupid?

But then you say some people want Fallout 3 or New Vegas. What does this mean? Are you saying you'd rather have a game like Fallout 3? In what way? Because the gameplay of Fallout 3 and New Vegas already bears some similarities to that of the Elder Scrolls series. And some of the aspects that are different are the result of the setting, like the presence of guns, the lack of a magic system, and such, obviously, Bethesda can't bring those over. So you really have to clarify in more detail what you mean, or there isn't much to discuss. Besides, considering our lack of knowledge of what The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will actually be like, I don't think it's fair to say we'd rather have something else than whatever you're getting. Once Bethesda releases some real information, THEN we can start saying what aspects of the game should or should not be the way they are.

Sometimes it amazes me how little faith people have in the actual developers. As if they could all suddenly forget what you like about the series.

Didn't you hear? It's cool now to be pessimistic.

I'd say for now it's better to just be glad that the game is being made, and not pass judgement, positive or negative, until, you know, we actually know something about the game. Not that I have any doubts that we'll get a game I will enjoy, because Bethesda has yet to fail me in that regard. But will it be everything I hope it will be? Well, I'll just say I'm sure I'll find something to complain about in it. But if it makes you feel any better, there are things I could criticize about Morrowind too, or any game I've played from Bethesda so far. I know, I know, it seems absurd to be able to like a game while not considering it to be some sort of sacred model of all that is good in games that cannot possibly have a single flaw in it at all, and that it's blasphemous to dare to *gasp* have some small criticisms about something without seeing it as the spawn of all that is corrupt in the world, but hey, it can happen.

Wow... I guess http://demotivational.ca/haters-gonna-hate/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/haters.jpg...

Listen bud, I'm not really that big of a Fallout fan... Elder Scrolls is first and foremost in my heart. I've never even played New Vegas... So I like two aspects of the Fallout games and think they would be good in the Elder Scrolls... Sue me...

Wait, I change my vote - I want Skyrim set in Blackpool - seaside fun with swords! The useless horses will be replaced with useless donkeys, and all the castles will be made of sand.

I was hating on you? Why impossible! Improbable in the very least! It was never my slightest intention to HATE on you, simply to ask the question, Do you want Skyrim in Skyrim?
