So I've browsed the forums here, thinking 'Hey, maybe this isn't something that's been covered.' Turns out, it has. Repeatedly.The infamous perma-Deep One, no clicky levers, no killee Hydra bug.Every post I've seen has had some variation on 'Well, you just have to do it X way.' Tried 'em all. :cthulhu: I've tried from an earlier save (to the point of actually restarting The Air-Filled Tunnels), I've tried every possible angle for clicking the blasted switches, I've tried the DCotEPatch with Fly Mode to get additional angles, and none of it works.To answer the ever-present questions:1) Yes, I had a full charge on the YLG.2) Yes, I was standing right next to the gong.3) Yes, I killed all of the Deep Ones in the chamber.4) Yes, I made it into the pool before the gong finished ringing (though the gong stopped as I took over the Deep One).5) Yes, I've tried getting back into the pool as a Deep One, but just get recycled into a new body.6) Yes, I've killed the Deep Ones that spawn in... to the point where I can now joust with up to 5 of the buggers without taking damage.Am I right in thinking that I've basically got 2 options: nab a working save from someone else, or just give it up? And if there's a third option (which doesn't rehash what I've already done) PLEASE let me know. I'd hate to have to wipe the game and reinstall just to try and fix this.Oh, and as for the unofficial patch... any idea why it now costs $$?

explanation and (hopefully) solutionI encountered the same bug, and though this post is quite old and my explanation won?t help the original author, it might help other people in the future. What happens in the temple is obviously some miss-triggered mix of two events, one that is supposed to happen when you succesfully possess a deep one, and one that is supposed to happen when you fail. You know you have the buggy event if:-Jack says "If I could shut out that noise, I might be able to prolong the possession", although you seem to stay in control of the deep one-the deep one you?re supposed to possess appears in the room as an enemy, although you seem to still possess it-you can?t press the levers by hitting them with your fish-hands-you can open your inventory and use health-packs or read your notes while you seem to possess the deep oneThere seems to be a trigger, or a combination of triggers, that causes this buggy event to appear, which means: If you do certain things in the temple, you?ll get the buggy event. The solution is simple: don?t do anything you don?t absolutely need to. So, what you do is:1. start at the save point.2. walk right to the upper level of the temple. Don?t read the tablets of dagon, don?t examine the gong or anything else!3. Kill the sorcerers. Don?t step into the pool of water!4. Press the one lever you can reach and kill the enemies that spawn. Don?t examine the statues or anything else! You can use a health-pack if you need to, this shouldn?t matter.5. Go to the lower level of the temple, stand right next to the gong and hit it with a red-flashing fully loaded energy weapon. Don?t examine it or hit it with anything else!6. Go to the upper level, kill the deep ones and step into the pool. Now you should gain control of a deep one without Jack saying "if I couls shut out that noise..." and without the deep one appearing in the room as an enemy. If you do, you?ll now be able to press the button.
