An idea for questing and NPCs

I was watching a Let's Play the other night for Morrowind, and I realized something. While the guy was playing, he got a quest to look for a specific person, and some general direction on how to get there. Ya know, the classic "head up the road, and at the fork hang a left" type directions which is awesome IMO, much better than a quest marker. Anyway, when he got to town he needed to be, and figured out who he needed to find was in the tavern, it was just a matter of mousing over all the NPCs until he found who it was he was looking for.

Now, I think that's kinda lame. Maybe I'm just knit picking, but I think maybe it should be you don't know who any NPCs are until you actually talk to them. That quest up until that point was pretty immersive, initially getting the quest and getting those specific directions. Then following the directions and finding the town, followed by asking a guard who this fellow was and he point you to the tavern. That's pretty awesome questing I think, and looking at the big picture, that quest isn't meaningful at all. But the whole just mousing over people to figure out who they are kinda breaks it.

Like I said, I know it's a pretty small deal, and it in no way ruins the game as a whole. But Not knowing NPCs until your character ACTUALLY figures out who they are would be just that one extra step forward to making the questing and game as a while more immersive. And Immersion in an ES game is pretty vital I think.

Just wanna know what other people think about the idea.
