Crafting Magical arrows

Post » Wed Mar 02, 2011 6:51 am

In oblivion magic arrows werent very common. I would have liked it if we could enchant arrow the same way we do a sword but 15 or so a soul gem. Would this be a good feature to include. discuss.

It's called enchanting. First you craft the arrows, then you enchant them.

You couldn't enchant arrows in Oblivion. OP is saying that we should be able to.

Although you could find enchanted arrows ready made...

id like to enchant arrows yes. and 15 for each soul gem sounds reasonable. they should perhas have weaker effects when enchanting than melee weapons though, since theyre ranged.

In one of the GI vids we've seen, there's a shot of some artwork on the wall of someone's office of an archer with drawn bow and a flaming arrow. I thought that looked awesome, and maybe it'll be in the game! Whether such a thing would come from enchanting, or perhaps utilising magic in a new way, I think it'd be cool either way.

It would be nice. The effects would have to be cut down a bit imo.

You know, I remember seeing that picture and thinking that it was a representation of how they were going to animate enchanted arrows/bows in the game(with that one obviously being an example of an arrow or bow enchanted with fire damage). But then with the announcement issued in one of the new magazine threads, that we will be able to set oil on fire, I'd have to guess that that's probably an arrow soaked or smeared in it and then ignited.

Regardless of how its achieved, I agree with you, it will be cool. :flamethrower:

Effects should be reasonable and equal to what you find in the world. IE. in Oblivion last night I found me some arrows that did 200 Frost Damage in 60 Ft of target. Easily can kill 6 dudes. So if i can find it in world i should be able to make something reasonable to it right?

My characters often have marksman as a key skill (I like attacking from afar), and I would really love to see this as well.

I remember that it was stated in one of the videos/articles (forget which one) that arrows in Skyrim will not be as accessable and common as in the past games.

Scarce ammo will be tough on those who rely exclusively on marksman, so the ability to enchant will be a plus.

Hopefully with the new crafting system you can make and enchant arrows. It would make woodcutting more popular for archers.
