Halberds/Polearms confirmed?

Post » Tue Mar 01, 2011 10:44 pm

I noticed many people saying that halberds are confirmed to be in the game, but i haven't heard anything official on the matter. Could someone give a quote on where they said this, assuming it isn't against the forum rules of course ;)

no. they arent. todd said in response about spears in a gi phone interview that they were not *currently* putting spears into the game "not in the conventional sense at least" (paraphrase) which is too loose of a statement to conclude that pole arms are confirmed.

there was also a little evidence of one, in one picture of the undead two of the skeletons are holding large axes, which could be classified as halberds

PC Gamer magazine- there's a table showing what can be equipped alongside what in the right and left hand (weapon and spell, two-handed weapon, shield and shield, etc). One of the columns is "polearm."

A halberd is also pictured in at least two pieces of concept art for the game.

alot of them are seen in concept art, and then the whole "not a traditional sense" of spears.

combine those 2 factoids, its likely but not certain that polearms/halbreds type axes are in.

sweet! I actually liked halberd more than spears. thats still not a confirmation. it could still get cut from the game if they want to fit something else in.

Oh cool! Well a polearm is almost a spear, it's better than not having a long stick with death on one end. That makes me happier. Anything to break the monotonous sword-axe-club triumvirate of Oblivion.

Todd, I take back what I said. But we still need more Muatra!

Hey, maybe we get something like a Japanese Tonbogiri. That would be interesting. Sword with really long handle.
