Visualize Your Skill

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 4:24 am

As we all know, aside from all the usual skills (Heavy Armor, Blade, Block, etc.), Skyrim will feature others skills such as cooking, woodcutting, blacksmithing, and so on. Obviously, as we did activities that involved those skills, they would increase. But what if we saw them increase in something more visual than just a number? I mean, sure, cut wood enough, and you'll raise that skill from level 1 to level 2. Let's take blacksmithing, for instance. You start off with a few materials, and you want to make an iron sword. When you're done, Your sword looks decent. There's a crack or two, some dents, some chips, and it's slightly crooked. Now, you go to a shop and you buy an iron sword made by a professional blacksmith. You compare the two, and see that his is perfect compared to yours, obviously. Now, what if you saw these flaws begin to slowly vanish as your raise your skill? Just a thought.

I understand that it is highly unlikely that this idea will be implemented into the game, but we're all aloud to have ideas, right?

That would be pretty cool, like when you're chopping wood, your axe gets stuck if you're a beginner, but later on you hit it dead center every time.

Now that would be cool.

It'd be cool, but I'm pretty sure wood cutting, cooking, mining, farming, etc. will not be actual skills, just random stuff to do to make money. And they're done in real time, no menus :) (Except cooking.)

I think cooking is real time mixed with menus.
